Good luck.
Good luck.
As a former Marine, I'd like to say that it was by far the best decision I've ever made. Not only have I been to every continent except Antarctica; I have a very coveted security clearance. Something that in the Metro DC area, is worth more than a degree. Also, depending on where you're at; you put on a resume you were a Marine, you get moved up on job lists. Hell there are even specific military only job lists. USAA insurance is another great reason; that's auto / home / property insurance only open to military and military contractors even after you're out. I pay less than 120 a month for the cars, the house, flood, and other personal items; all thanks to USAA.
All in all, there are a ton of benefits to joining any of the armed services, but I'd recommend the chair force though, I work with three guys that were all in that and hearing their deployment stories compared to mine, it's like they were at a resort compared to what I lived in.
Study your ass off for the ASVAB before you take it... the higher you score the more motivation the recruiter has for getting you (in writing) a job that you actually want. It's not a tough test, but the higher your GT score, the better your job.
Good luck with it all though, I don't regret any of my six years in The Corps.
I think I would only join the military if I was garunteed what I wanted, and their promises never work out.
Put me in a fighter jet and you've got me for life.
Officer commissions work way differently than enlistments. My brother in-law is trying to get into OCS for the USMC; and he's having a hell of a time getting them to actually sign the paperwork off on him being in a jet even though he's passed all the tests.
Navy
Better training, little to no combat. If someone IS stupid enough to attack a navy vessel, its the last fucking thing they do. (Cole doesn't count ; ; )
