Yeah, I got an email saying the beta "is now available".
It's pretty good. I enjoyed it quite a bit.
Is there no level progression in the beta? or am I reading it wrong? I don't seem to be progressing towards the next weapons in any class despite getting a few thousand points.
I unlocked a weapon for engineer, so I'm assuming there is, or just a lack of upgrades altogether in the beta.
I didn't look around the menus much, but perhaps there's a screen like in the first Bad Company that shows upcoming awards you can earn for new stuff?
Pretty amazing. I ran into a house within the first 10 minutes of playing to go into the menu and change controls around. By the time I finished and exited out, the fucking wall I put my back to was gone.
Really wish the beta wasn't Rush, sick of the snipers and tanks already!
I love the voice work of the characters in the game.
Get a revenge kill on someone and he'll yell "WHAT NOW MOTHER FUCKER" is so great to hear.
I hope they release more maps for the beta soon because rush is getting pretty boring now.
When you're in a good squad with friends, and the teams are even, it's the best multiplayer experience ever. The last two crates are so epic.
PC will probably be the far superior version, especially if they don't add community features to the console versions. It will also have 32 player limit as well rather than the 24 for consoles, which will help for conquest mode and the bigger maps.
This is everything I was hoping it would be. I loved BF 1942 and 2142, CoD MW and WaW were a nice destraction, bypassed MW2 after borrowing it and being underwhelmed. I cant wait for march!
Are there more urban fight types in battlefield games? Dont know how long I could deal with the tank/sniper war maps in retail.

I'm going to buy both versions, ps3 and pc, to play with friends that are going to be on them.Battlefield: Bad Company 2's associate producer and dedicated server of official blog updates, Gordon Van Dyke, has assured fans that the PC beta will still happen -- though later than expected. "With the huge success of the PS3 Beta we decided to drastically increase the PC Beta's capacity to insure as many people as possible could participate," Van Dyke wrote. "Unfortunately this meant we had to delay the Beta to very early next year giving us more planning time to make it happen and implement more optimizations."
The PC version of DICE's first-person, military-person shooter will boast full support for DirectX 11, a maximum of 32 active players (Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions go up to 24), clans, friend lists and dedicated servers, which is that controversial thing we referenced in the previous paragraph.
Battlefield: Bad Company 2 will arrive on store shelves in March 2, 2010. It's the one that ups the lone-soldier-walking-towards-you ante with some helicopters, a tank and another soldier that is slightly farther away.
I love this game already. A guy just blasted a hole in the wall of the bomb site and a team mate on an ATV jumped over some concrete blocks, went through the hole in the wall and landed inside killing the defenders hiding out in there. Brilliant.
Not a fan of the version of the game I played on PS3. Server was laggy, reponse was bad, and the controls got worse. It's a damned shame. =(
The response was bad when you were lagging?! You don't say.
I can safely say that I have never had an hint of lag during the 12~ hours or so I've played the beta. Dare I suggest it being on your side?
Dare I suggest you have no idea how BFBC servers work? What you might perceive as normal gameplay is not normal gameplay.
Dare I suggest that I'm playing on 10 by 10 fiber and know what the fuck I'm talking about?
To get straight to the point, you don't have a peer to peer connection like most games while playing BC. You're playing on an EA server which hosts the games. In my case I was unlucky enough to draw a server that was having a bad day, or was in a foreign country.
If that's going to continue to happen, even after how long the community has been pounding into EA and DICE's heads that that's bad, the game is going to continually suffer from it.
Settle down
And the same exact thing would happen if you go to a peer2peer server on a bad day. Like I said I've had zero problems.
"Lag free" for me even playing against Americans, same for my clan mates so far. Will be interesting to see how the PC beta plays out in December. Love playing the medic class, healing, reviving team mates and causing general mayhem. Really impressed with this game and the general gameplay feeling.
The problem being, is that it happens all too often when there's a limited number of game servers. Then eventually, when the closest connections are filled, you lose the chance at a good game.
Here's your litmus test to see if your latency is unacceptable. If you don't immediately stop after releasing the sprint button, you're playing on a server that has over 150 MS latency, and it's completely unacceptable in that game.

Hey all,
We wanted to update you, and slow the flood of tweets, on questions surrounding the BFBC2 PC Beta being cancelled. I'll get right to it and say "the BFBC2 PC Beta is not cancelled". Now this all started due to changes made to an earlier blog that removed the PC Beta from the details and the reason for this was the plan changed. With the huge success of the PS3 Beta we decided to drastically increase the PC Beta's capacity to insure as many people as possible could participate. Unfortunately this meant we had to delay the Beta to very early next year giving us more planning time to make it happen and implement more optimizations.
Here is a recap of the current PC features, and we can now confirm DX11 support with more details to come later!
PC Enhanced Features
* Up to 32 Players on PC (24 on consoles) - Play with up to 32 players online in the biggest multiplayer Maps in Battlefield. Each with a different tactical and gameplay focus set across a variety of environments.
* Full DirectX 9, 10 & 11 Support - Immerse yourself in the Battlefield world as Frostbite engine brings tanks, helicopters and explosions to vivid life on your PC. The game will fully support Windows XP, Vista, and 7 with new tech that further improves things like lighting and shadows.
* Enhanced Gameplay - The PC version also includes wide peripheral support like Joysticks for flying, NVIDIA 3D Vision, Logitech LCD Keyboards and VoIP Support plus a variety of specific features tailored for PC play.
* Friend Support - Find your friends online with the new buddy list to see if and who is online so you can quickly join their game.
* Dedicated Ranked Server - Everyone gets non-stop action with no connection penalties based on some other player's internet. Ranked Server Provider program will give players opportunity to rent their own server(s) located in professional grade datacenters, ability to modify settings like map rotation, create reserved slots for friends or clan members, kick & Ban players, and custom name your ranked server.
* Clan Support & Private Servers - Independent Clan Tag, and ability to rent servers for hosting and controlling private password protected competitive servers with expanded control over the settings from public ranked servers.
* PC Squad Play System - Updated from previous Battlefield PC titles now gives control of your squad before heading into combat.
I got into the original 1942, but the single player on bad company 1 was bad, was the multi really good enough to make a sequel v. cod mw2?
