Thanksgiving

Just finished brining a turkey, gonna make my mom's secret mash potato recipe.

Cooking solo this year so I'm in the process of making:

Baked Mac & Cheese w/ Bechamel sauce & crushed potato chip crust (fuuuck yooou it's delicious)
Garlic mashed potatoes
Whipped sweet potatoes
Green bean casserole

Bought like.. 4 pumpkin pies from Costco, 6 or 7 of the youknowwhat sparkling cider (apple, pomegranate, white grape, etc), pumpkin cheesecake

Mom is bringing over two turkeys. One deep-fried, one.. normal. /shrug

First time cooking by myself so I hope it turns out well.

Grandparents said fuck the turkey this year so they're grilling some BBQ ribs, tritips, and steak. The smell outside came into the house... So hungry... :Q

turkey, mac&cheese, stuffing, mashed potatos - in equal servings. i could eat that all day

I just had: roasted chicken (hate turkey), honey smoked ham, arroz, guacamole, pico de gallo, pastel, flan, and dos x. Not bad ;o

We're an appetizers family.

There's the aunt who brings the spinach dip in the bread bowl, the aunt who brings the sausage on toothpicks with assorted mustards. Somehow shrimp cocktails end up on the table too. There's also the cousin who brings her 7-layer dip, and the family basically fills up on appetizers before we ever cut the turkey. Every Thanksgiving, we have pretty much the same dishes prepared by the same people with the same recipes from the dawn of time. As each cousin reaches adulthood and starts a family, a new dish enters the scene.

Before my wife and I, it was my cousin's 7-layer dip. My wife now makes a Chocolate pie for dessert, and we have two new married couples this year, so I look forward to the new food additions.

My family does this too. Unfortunately, some of them went out of town this year so we cancelled. First year with my fiancee so I was planning for her to make her awesome chili-cheese sauce to take with us. Had a very delicious turkey dinner at home though with the grandparents.
