It's still not the same. When you go to buy a car, and negotiate the price on that care, you came in there intending to buy that car, just haven't settled on the price you want to pay for it. With our situation, I want chicken, you are not trying to sell me that same piece of chicken at a higher price, you are trying to sell me something totally different in it's place.

Someone may say "well since i'm paying 10 bucks instead of 8 bucks for chicken, That 2 dolars is coming out of his tip so I pay the same amount" not everyone is going to be the same when it comes to tipping, with commision you are guaranteed that money. Selling cars and being a waiter is not the same thing.

In the end there will be an average tip per $ sold. In the end there will be an average commission per $ of profit sold.

That is how each person will make their money. It isn't going to be swayed because someone is a jew about a tip, someone will leave double tip for the server giving him such a great suggestion.

You missed it. There is an average amount a server will make per dollar sold, it won't deviate that much by one guy being a jew. If that server sells more he will make more regardless if you yourself wont tip more.

If it is mandatory, I tip and then complain to the manager. If it is not. I round the bill up to the next dollar. The max they get for shit service is 99 cents.
I generally tip a dollar for every five and I add an extra dollar at 20. I keep the pattern up. Of course, depending on service, I might leave less, but I'm generally a good tipper.
That said some places I am a regular at, when I have shit service one time, I don't change my tipping procedure. I won't make someone's day worse when I know they are having a shit day already.

If a server makes an average of .10 per dollar he sells.

A customer buys $8 worth of food, the server made .80.

If the server had convinced the customer to buy the $10 plate of food, he would have made $1.

I know you would have deducted the price of the new plate from his tip, but on average, he is going to get his .10 per dollar sold.

Ok, your hypothetical customer may have, but it will average itself back out and the server will make more the more he sells.

Where this entire thing started, back at my post about percentages, that wasn't even the issue. I KNOW they get more money on average, my question is WHY? They are doing the exact same amount of work.
