mine works fine, you just have to get a wad installer and download the wads for whatever it is you want to play. I have FFCC: my life as king and the dlc, FF4 after years, lost winds etc, and when I run out of space I just delete stuff and reinstall it from an SD card.

btw Lit is a really neat puzzle game if you're gonna be getting wiiware stuff

I've had my Wii modded with the USB loader for about 2 months now and I have never looked back. I usually borrow/rent games and copy them to my external USB drive. I got a 250 gig drive mainly because a lot of the games are very small. Some games are barely 1.5 GB's if not less.

By the way, a heads up. If you plan on using a USB loader to copy games that require motion plus, you will want to actually play the disc first because those games have a mandatory 3 minute instruction video that needs to play. Once it is over, it will create a save file to the system which skips the video and then you can load the games via USB loader. If you just copy the game and skip running the disc, when you try to load the game, the Wii will BSOD with an Error 002.

Wait, you're telling me all M+ games have that rediculously long 'how to use properly' video which you can't skip?

Dear god, I was hoping that was only going to be exclusive to Wii Sports Resort only.
(inb4 someone saying "well you get to wait 5-15min on a PS3 game to install")

that is horrible. aren't there like... no motionplus games out currently? I guess I'll worry about it when Red Steel 2 comes out, provided I've played the first by then.

with wbfs manager/usb loader you don't need to burn anything, just use wbfs manager to load it onto a usb hard drive/thumb drive and then just plug that into the wii.

i just downloaded the isos tho, but yea

Load the game to the usb through your wii (depends on your usb loader, but I think all of them has an install option)

Wii ISOs are in a non-PC readable format except on about 3 very specific DVD-ROM drives I believe. If you need to burn one, you'll need it dumped in either a WBFS format (to which you can have the program extract it into an ISO iirc) or a raw ISO, typically dumped from the Wii itself.

Only problem with burning Wii discs is that there's no way to do a verify check after burning unless your drive can do a raw read, which most can't.

Btw, to the HD loaders, can the Wii work with a partitioned drive? I recalled trying to hook mine up once but it said it couldn't find anything. I don't know if that's because I never formatted (it usually offered it or complained about the format if so), or because my USB drive isn't usable with it due to its setup.

i've resized an external usb drive and made a second partition WBFS and it worked fine (although i haven't really messed with this stuff too much once i got it work, and i've only really played off of a usb stick, but it did see the hdd)

Usb Loaders will work with a partition drive make a partition using Windows Vista / 7 built in manager, assign a letter to the new partition create the partition but do not format it. Use WBFS manager load up the partition you created and format it to WBFS. Load games and enjoy.

Know where i can find an faq for wii errors?
I downloaded brawl++ but i get an error/crash whenever i try to actually load the game through gecko.
    Wii version 4.2U
Latest version of gecko which seems to be a version update ahead of what the brawl++ website has.

This is the site i use for FAQ's and stuff, wiiso.com

Below are some errors they have posted see if they work for you, i posted them here because you have to sign up to the site

What exactly is your error btw? DVD? USB loader?

    Spoiler: show

    Wii Homebrew Error Codes [WHEC]

    -6: SD/USB Loader Error
Partition not Found. Most likely have a cIOS installed incorrectly, out of date, or missing. Possibly formated the device incorrectly or is unsupported.

    -1: SD/USB Loader Error
Hardware not recognized. Most likely have a cIOS installed incorrectly, out of date, or missing. Possibly formated the device incorrectly or is unsupported, or not enough space.

    Q. I have formated the device correctly and have cIOS 36 rev 8+ but I am still getting this error; how would I fix this?

    A. Be sure to have the device hooked up to the Wii before you power it on. You may lack USB 2.0 support as well, so try installing that.

    -1: Wad Install Error
Most likely have a cIOS installed incorrectly, out of date, or missing. Can also be a bad wad or not enough space on the Wii. Possibly formated the SD Card incorrectly.

    0: SD/USB Loader Error
Corrupt ISO. Most likely patched incorrectly (you don't have to patch region when using USB Loader).

    001: Unauthorized Device Detected
Most likely outdated firmware for your modchip. Possibly an outdated or missing IOS.

    002: DVD Read Error / Anti-piracy security
Most likely old or missing IOS.

    Q. How can I fix this?

Install a newer IOS 249. There is a 002 fix channel that will fix most of the older games. SoftChip R90 plays the newer games with no problem. USB Loader and/or cIOScorp are other alternatives.

    116: Network Connection Error
Failed to connect to the internet or previous installation failed.

    Q. I can't install cIOS, I keep getting an error. How do I fix this?

    A. You need to downgrade your Wii. I suggest NOT to uninstall IOS249 until you are sure that you have downgraded your Wii.

    324: DVD Read Error
Bad burn/media or no cIOS (like IOS 249).

    349: DVD Read Error
Bad burn/media or most likely incorrect IOS.

    384: DVD Read Error
Bad burn/media or out of date IOS.

    574: DVD Read Error
Bad burn/media or out of date IOS. May not be compatible with certain versions of backup launchers (new revs should fix this).

    972: DVD Read Error
Bad burn/media or out of date IOS. Possibly a computer issue.

    Q. If it is a computer issue, how do I fix it?

    A. First, make sure the type of media you're using is compatible with the Wii and/or your computer's DVD Burner. Make sure you have administrative rights on your account; if you're using Windows Vista, try right clicking the software's icon (the one you use to burn games with) and run as administrator. If this still does not work, you may have to do a registry scan/fix (I'm not sure about the last one, but I have seen this posted in a few places, and I can imagine it will cause a problem).

    1017 IOS Installation Error
Most likely using an old or incorrect IOS, missing an IOS, or the IOS you're trying to install cannot be installed ontop of another.

    Q. How do I fix this error?

    A. Fix it by installing a newer IOS 249 than the one you already have (if you don't have it, try installing it). If you still get this error, fix it the same way as Error 2011.

    1020: Wad Install Error
Most likely missing trucha sign if you downgraded. Other issues are Out of date IOS or bad/incorrect wad. Memory might be full.

    1022: Wad Install Error
Most likely incorrect format or corrupt SD card. Memory might be full.

    1029: Wad Install Error
Most likely have cIOS 37 (or other outdated/incorrect IOS) still installed. Memory might be full. Wad may be corrupt (patched/injected incorrectly).

    Q. How do I fix this Error?

    A. Fix it by uninstalling cIOS 37 (use AnyTitleDeleter) if you have it installed. Try using Custom Wad Manager, as some cIOS may be incompatible with the normal Wad Manager. Try a different wad.

    1035: Corrupt IOS
Most likely caused by using incorrect or bad IOS/wad installations. Fix it the same way as Error 2011.

    2011: Installation Error
Most likely installed incorrect or out of date IOS; missing trucha.

    Q. I can't install any IOS, I keep getting an error. How do I fix this?

    A. You can try cIOS fix or AnyTitleDeleter (be sure you know what you're doing). You may also try downgrading IOS (use IOS Downgrader; rarely will you have to use cIOS Downgrader). Try restoring Trucha. You can also try downgrading or upgrading your Wii. (e.g. 3.3 to 3.2, or 3.3 to 3.4/4.0) Refer to Your Questions Answered on how to up/downgrade.

    4100: Title Identification Error
When using DVDs, most likely bad burn or media. As for wads, most likely an incorrectly injected wad (.dol and rom injections).

    Q. I injected the .dol/rom the same way I do all my injections. What am I doing wrong?

    A. You'll need to make sure the account you're using has all permissions. If you're running Vista, you may want to right click on the program and click run as administrator as well.

    homebrew---> brawl+--> load gecko--> loadgame-->

Exception (DSI occurred) etc etc etc
    The brawl game is unpirated
EDIT: i think i just fixed it. apparently it doesnt work unless debug mode is on and the default settings have it as off. OK that's weird. the crashing seems random. ill do more testing later to figure it out.

    I've got a question.

My wii is still version 3.2something (u? idr), haven't updated it in forever. It has a modchip (d2ckey iirc), and I've got the homebrew channel installed.

The thing is, I'm trying to update everything, and I can't find a decent guide to help me. Most of them are for people who softmodded their wii, except that I have a modchip. And others make a ton of assumptions that you understand everything and they just say "install cios" or something without going in-depth into how to actually do it.

So, I'm pretty sure I have to install some CIOS, or patch some for trucha signing or some shit, except that none of that makes any sense to me. If someone could point me in the direction of a guide that doesn't suck, or, write something yourself, I'd appreciate it <.<

I'm basically just trying to update my wii with all of the new stuff, so that it's all nice and updated. I guess I want to try out that new mario game, but eh. Currently do not have an extra hdd so don't plan on using one of those usb loaders yet, but I will eventually.
