Apparently I'm actually on 3.1 <.<

I want to upgrade the system menu because I'm eventually going to be using a usb loader.

I upgraded my HBC (it was 1.0.1, and for some reason didn't want to update itself, so I updated it while installing that hackmii batch, bootmii, etc)

Got bootmii installed, and did a nand backup.

So I figured the next step would be upgrading everything. I found this program called "Pimp my wii" ( http://webrewwii.blogspot.com/2009/1...y-wii-131.html ) which is supposed to check all of the IOS you have installed and update them and trucha the ones that need to be trucha and whatever.

Except, it didn't really work. It downloaded, and then got an error and was unable to update them, but it still updated something. After all the failing, I went to try the program again, and it seemed like it fucked everything up pretty badly, as instead of just saying I had everything super-outdated, it was saying I didn't have anything at all, or they were all version 0 or some shit. I went to try and run the game that was inside my wii, and I got prompted for a system update.... yeah. (game was okami, not that it matters) I immediately rebooted and restored the nand, which thankfully fixed it.

So I guess what I want is to upgrade all these IOS, and have the ones that need to be trucha signed, signed. From what I understand, if you modify a game (say, restore the japanese voices), the IOS that's needed to run that game needs to be trucha signed or w/e for it to be able to run, yes? If I'm understanding that right, then I'm going to want them all to be trucha signed :/

It seems like I'm going to have to hunt a shitton of these down, and then install them one by one or something? Sounds like a pain

I just tried that program again, figured I could just restore again if it messed up, and it seems to have worked ok >.>

Is there anything else I need to do? lol

Didn't bring any blank dvds home with me so i can't test the new mario

You would need IOS53 for NSMB (Also make sure you get the patched alt dol iso)

I am not sure about your mod chip and if it will load them directly from the channel ( check the chips website see if they have updates) Since i had a wiikey2 on a wiiclip. Now i use a usb loader.


You could also try using Softchip or NeoGamma Loaders for the DVD

As far as usb loaders, you can try WiiFlow or USB Loader GX

GX is good WiiFlow looks better and has a better GUI.

find out what firmware your wii is( wii system settings ) on and you can go from there with one of the tutorials on this thread.

Playing from USb is your best bet since most games are not even 3GB you would just be wasting DVD's

The link to the guide Octopus posted has a nice tutorial on what to do to play games off a USB Loader. get USB Loader all installed then you can update the ciosrev files.

Yeah you would need a SD card most of main stuff is installed from it.

any SD card should do, if you want to make a backup of your wii you need at least a SD card bigger than 512MB

I'm on the last step installing the USB loader, I was going to use my external HD which is 1TB to play games on the Wii.

It says I have to have the USB plugged in before I can install the loader, will any of my information on my HD get lost?

EDIT: I guess the USB loader is installed, I think..

Anyways, when I download a ISO file, and want to play it from my HDD, do I have to make a file to put it in?
Example

A file named "Wii" and put the iso in there for it to load on the Wii?

The programs that transfer games to the HD will format the whole drive so if you don't want to use the whole 1TB, you can partition it with windows vista /7 so you can have space for wii and pc data if you want.


You can download the program i linked to in page 1 or you can google WBFS intelligent ( same program). It will convert the ISO's into ciso's. If you are never gonna burn the wii games to DVD i would suggest finding a site that has the games in cISO format. They are already formatted which saves time and space on downloads. Example would be New Super Mario Bros. Full iso would be 4.37GB i just downloaded the cISO and it was about 400MB.

Download that WBFS program and try a game if it doesn't work you may need ciosrev 14 / 15.

Yeah you can do that


That WBFS Intelligent is able to convert the cISO back into ISO if you ever need to.

1) Open WBFS Intelligent 6 (Vista users "Run as Administrator")

2) Select your WBFS formatted USB device in "Drive letter"

3) Locate the cISO in "File Explorer"

4) Transfer the cISO to a WBFS formatted USB device

5) Click "Advanced Extraction"

6) Select your device letter

7) Go to "Output Format" and select ISO

8) Go to "Destination and select "PC"

9) Click the ">>" button

10) Go to the folder in which your "wbfs_inteligent_gui_v6" is located and your ISO will be there

So as long as I burn it as a ISO it should be fine, gotacha, i'll just try to torrent the games as ISO's originally. Thank you for all your help!

I take it your wii is not chipped so if you are gonna use DVD's you would need NeoGamma Loader / SoftChip Loader.

So far i've installed Homebrew channel and IOS249 no problem, and I think i've installed USB. I also tried using NeoGamma Loader on this new burned DVD of New Super mario land I just tried, did not work. Is there anything else I should install?

If you're using rev15 of IOS249, that version is not compatible with Neogamma. Need to either use a USB drive or downgrade your IOS249 back to rev14.

I couldn't get a burnt copy of NSMB to work, I had to load it via USB instead. All the disc gave me was a green screen.

I know i asked this already but i cannot burn Real games to my USB


I tried plugging my USB to my PC and going with WBFS manager or intelligent, keeps saying that my disk is unreadable in the my drive.

I tried dirrectly from the USB loader with the + and the A key and it doesn't work either.

tried this with NSMBW and Rayman and no good
