Okay, so I'm doing my research on building a computer and I'm looking at HIS Radeon 4890 1GB video cards. They're running from on sale at $180 to $230.

My question is, in the description it will say "HIS Radeon 1GB 512-bit"

Now, I came accross a video card that says "Nvidia Geforce 1GB 128-bit" video card.

So are these 1GB or the -bit part? I don't get it.

If you want to build a PC, probably starting your own thread would be the best bet to get people's opinions, otherwise I wouldn't mind working through PMs. Here's a wishlist of an i5 build I put together about a month ago. It's just missing an OS, if you need that included in your budget, I can refresh the build and try to squeeze some money out. An $800 build these days should be able to max Crysis and most new games btw

I wouldn't concern yourself with the memory interface bitrate if you're dealing with newer $100+ cards. Like the nvidia gtx 260 is a 488bit GDDR3 while the stronger ati 5870 is 256bit with GDDR3. I don't think it's as relevant these days with new cards as it's not a spec to really compare things with since it's different hardware. The 1GB refers to the amount of video ram is on the board. If you want to compare cards, your best bet is to look up different benchmarks, not just look at the specs. A $180 ATI 4890 isn't really a deal though either that's about standard price (should be even lower with the newer 5 series out)

Anyone see any adds for cheaper DS3 PS3 controllers? 54$ is kinda steep! So far nada on best buy and gamestop, target has one for 39.99 but i think it's the sixaxis.

Collection of Newegg deals thus far:

    http://slickdeals.net/forums/showthread.php?t=1695926

    http://www.facebook.com/Newegg?v=app_10339498918

Same deals, FB link is just a little more readable, but without forum commentary on specific deals.

One of the more notable deals: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822136319

    What about this deal?

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc..._-na-_-na-_-na

I've only had laptops through college, graduating here in the spring and going to invest in a desktop for use once I get my own living space but not sure if I should splurge for this now, which I can afford because I just got paid, or wait a couple weeks and build that really nice sub-$800 computer. I might start with this deal http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822136319

and just piece everything together from there. Never built a computer before though. Should I buy everything at once or can I do a few parts at a time? Budget is only about $400 right now.

all of the good newegg deals are selling out lol D:

That PC isn't completely terrible, but it's not exactly a deal either. It might be a personal preference, but I dislike the Athlon II line, would rather spend a little more for a Phenom II. I would wait and build my own PC

Sat on my butt and camped amazon. Picked up Batman for $20 from amazon, 10 James Bond Blurays for $60, All the Harry Potter Blurays for $10/ea, except the newest for $15, canceled my FF13/Bioshock Collectors edition, and re-purchased them for -$20 with discover card as my payment option. All in all a good day so far. Until I have to face the masses at work later today.

surprised nobody hopped on that 54" panasonic 1080p plasma at sears for 1099? i think it was a pre-BF deal but still a decent deal for an 'OK' tv

i bought a slightly smaller plasma (50") for 1099 on ebay, but it has a better picture and warranty (50B650 samsung)

two years ago black friday was the best one out of the last three if i recall
