Oh wow! I stopped playing because I've got bored of Aion (wanted to get level 50 before i quit but meh... >.> ).
Anyway, I will come back if they really realize all this.
game's been out forever in Korea, so no.
Spoiler: show
you win this round aion.. you win this round
(it looks like they possibly ported the game over to cryengine2 or 3 since its supposed to be drop in working)
Isn't Crysis on Cryengine 2?
People keep saying that. Is that joking around cuz it looks awesome? because I was under the impression that this is practically impossible, or very improbable, but I could be wrong. Once again, FFXI fucked me up bad. lol
Edit: Crysis is CryEngine 2, but 3 is not necessarily more powerful than 2. It's a different engine that is more compatible with consoles and I believe less hardware intensive.
if they port Aion to cryengine 2 elvis is gonna be all alone on his nasa computer
This is going to have to be the best update/expansion to any MMO. Have any high profile MMO's ever upgrade their engine completely like that?
(lolrunescape)
It didn't happen yet, but I think Anarchy Online is to upgrade their engine - even though it doesn't seem anything as close to what NCSoft might be planning.
You won't have to turn your graphics up to the new settings; quit whining about framerate.
Did I see a fucking whip????? Fuck yeah. And wtf @ the balaur deploying what looks like anti-missile flares..
I really want to be cynical about this, and question it the way some of you guys have, but my inner geek has taken over and is currently doing the happy dance.
I'm more than happy with the way thing have been improving anyway. Post patch I haven't crashed once (with all graphical settings at maximum) and aside from a slight glitch every now and again, auto-attack has been working a treat. Now with the annoucement of mass bot/RMT bannings and a clear vision of the future of the game, I really can't ask for more at this point.
Half of me is nerdgasming... the other half of me is going "This is not gonna be possible any time soon." A lot of what is thrown here is wishful thinking though and a lot of it can be implemented in due time.
On a random side note: Rebuilding Aion (made by a Korean company) on Cryengine 2 which is the engine that Crysis (a game where Koreans are enemies) uses.
o_O
As much as this is all super exciting and impressive, i am not gonna hold my breath on this comming out even next year unless this is an old video which has been in Korea for a while?
A lot of this stuff is going to take ages to implement and even if it did come out in anytime i think it's too soon for the Western Community to get (remember the majority of people are still oonly level 40 or lower) games been out a month and we already getting new shit exploding in our face, rather appreciate what i have at the moment and enjoy that for now, rather then get told no point new shit comming soon.
Also on the bigger picture, even though this looks amazing and beats the game that must not be named hands down, can you really see it stopping people going back for the new expansion, i can't.
Cross bows -drool-
Post 1111 must be good luck.
God damn. I had no interest in AION before (it always just seemed like a bandwagon MMO to me, no offense), but a world that's going to be that gorgeous looking looks to be the perfect place for casual exploration and taking in the sites.
That underwater exploration setting peaked my interest immensely, and will more-so if they compose the perfect musical score to go with the setting.
Does the MMO have actual stories and cutscenes that are not WoW-style wall-of-texts-quest-logs? FFXI from my understanding is the MMO that deviates from that tradition.
