WoW Books

I'm a fairly keen reader and whenever I'm in my local bookshop I always see lots of different WoW books. Was just wondering if any of you guys had read any of them and what you thought of them. If you have any recommendations that would be great. Even if the recommendation is to not read any of them.

You mean the novels? The only one I'm really familiar (as in I've read a lot about it) is Lord of the Clans, which is their 'bridge' between Warcraft II and Warcraft III, and thus not strictly a WoW book. Since a lot of what was written for that novel was extracted from all the work they did for the cancelled point and click adventure game, it's pure canon so if you're a lore maniac you'll get a lot out of the book. However the book is old, so a lot of what you read in there is stuff you'll have picked up from being one of the two or three people who reads every quest he gets.

It's okay. some of the example diagrams are incredibly crude but for a programming book it's pretty thorough.

The Arthas book was actually really, really good. I highly recommend it.

I also read the War of the Ancients trilogy over the summer. Lore-wise it was an interesting read, but overall... it was kind of a snoozefest, imo.

Haven't read any others yet.

I started the whole thing off with Rise of the Horde by Christie Golden. Story about the life of Durotan (father of Thrall) and how the orcs came under the influence of bloodlust. Very good jumping off point but I play an orc so maybe I was just interested

Well I'm happy they didn't get the complete slateing I thought they would. Guess I'll pick up a couple next time I'm in there.

I've read The War of the Ancients (Illidan/Malfurion Trilogy) and I loved it. Illidan is my favorite character from the series (Arthas in a close second) and it was really cool to find out how Illidan became the betrayer and lost his eyes.

I've also read The Archive, which is 4 separate books by different authors. Some of them were fantastic others were meh. (The Medivh one was AWESOME, mostly since I can't get enough of the old guy.)

I'm hoping to get the Arthas one for my birthday/christmas. Christie Gold is a fantastic author.

Can I ask the names of the books in the War of the Ancients trilogy? The history behind Illidan, Malfurion and Tyranade is my favourite part of the game so I'm guessing these books are the things I want to read (:

War of the Ancients was definitely an awesome trilogy. Probably gonna pick up the Arthas book in the near future.
