    Get over him/her

So I was wondering with the past couple "harassment" threads, I'd ask BG how they got over someone that they held dear to them. Be it drinking or just having random sex with as many people as possible. What is your solution to a breakup from a long relationship or just someone who you really cared about?

edit: OR atleast get your mind off them until you find someone else.

you don't ever really get over anyone you've truly cared about. everyone who's been there knows this.

This is going to be either a very stupid thread or a very entertaining one.

I convince insurance executives that it would be smart to reverse peep holes in hotel rooms and secretly video tape female sportscasters in their birthday suits.

Notice that the kid in that harassment thread was like 16. Once you grow up you tend to get over failed relationships rather quickly. Sending whiney texts, begging to be given a "second chance" or otherwise being a manbitch is high school crap. Once you get out into the real world and are secure with yourself enough to realize that some relationships just don't work out, there's no need to do anything to "get over" someone.

Very very true. But hookers and whiskey sure do help.

Also true. I didn't mean to suggest that people don't have short-term depression after ending a long relationship, it was the long-term brooding and emo crap I was referring to. As for the short term stuff, it's nothing a few (body) shots won't fix.

Few days of feeling sorry for yourself, followed by friends dragging you out or coming over with beer. A night of drunk talk that makes perfect sense at the time but thankfully you can't remember most of it the next morning.

After that's it's back to your life and begin to move on.

I'm sort of like this, but a little different. I tend to hold a torch for one person at a time. if I fall for someone else, that person gets replaced. if the new relationship ends, either I hold a torch for the new person, or go back to the old person, depending on how long we were together and how deep the connection is.

although right now, there's one person in particular who simply refuses to leave my head. it's been more than 5 years since we were close, but my heart still jumps when I see him replying to one of my facebook updates (something he does about once every three or four months). and until I fall for someone else, he's probably gonna stay there. although I think he's dating someone and I really do want him to be happy... that's what love is, wanting what's best for someone whether it's what's best for you or not.

btw, you can still love someone and not hurt everytime you think of them. you don't have to get over someone completely to stop feeling the pain.

time, friends and hobbies imo, sure the occasional drunken night will help as well, just keep yourself entertained until another slightly cuter opportunity comes your way and go for it, don't worry about rejection man you're on the rebound :D

I always tend to take a look back and analyze some of the things women have said to me in the past when relationships end. Once you sift through the degenerate rage filled insults, there are usually a few pieces of genuine tips to be had. I always just kind of shrugged my shoulders and try my best to take my mind off things(if I'm the dumpee.) Hang out with the guys and things along those lines. I tend not to go wandering off back into the dating pool too quickly so I have enough time to remember what it's like being unattached.

Was never a huge fan of the rebound girl, if anything I was more into the angry break up sex. After that, retreat, lick my wounds, take some time to recharge and relax, then do it all over again.

Then you get married. And it's all over.
