Here are the pre-order stuff for the game

Different distributors are having pre-order bonuses for MAG.[13] These include GameStop, GameCrazy, Amazon.com, 7-Eleven, and Best Buy. The pre-order items are:

    * GameCrazy - RAVEN In-Game Character
    * Amazon.com - S.V.E.R. PlayStation Home Personal Space (Amazon Pre-order also includes $10 credit on future Amazon video game purchase)

I played all the closed beta versions and the open beta. I have to say the open beta was much more fun than the closed betas and I can definitely see the improvements. I will be going S.V.E.R at launch because I have a number of buddies that will be also.

I'll have my own clan though but people will be welcome to join.

Those are some crappy pre-order bonuses. Do these pre-made characters come with bonus gear or something? Or do they let you have two characters to play with? If they actually give you some sort of boost to your pre-order bonus character I might just bite, but checking Best Buy's site it doesn't say anything about any kind of actual bonus.

edit: Just looked up the details, it's nothing more then new skins for a specific set of gear. I'll probably end up waiting to buy it in that case.

I played it a bunch last night and didn't seem to have any problems with it. Except for one game where it was just glitching out in the most bizarre way, every game I played ran smoothly and worked well.

And I didn't have too many issues with sniping. Despite using the basic starter gun with no upgrades, headshots were one hit kills and body shots were 2-3 at most. Though it does seem the armor is more or less useless, I would die just as fast with the light stuff as I would with the heavy gear. That kinda sucks when you're making your load-outs because then there's no real reason to go heavy gear.

Also, this game should totally come packed with a mic. More then most console FPSs, this game needs teamwork and voice chat. Otherwise you're dead in seconds from that guy you never even seen coming.
Using knives alot really makes you see the difference in heavy vs. lighter gears. I absolutely hated going in for the knife kills only to realize they had heavy armor on, making them able to knife me before I could get a second stroke in. That's probably the biggest reason to go with heavy gear, and I actually used heavy gear on one of my assault rifle loadouts specifically because of that.

I plan on buying this, but can't until February most likely. If I get it, I'll probably stick to S.V.E.R. again since that's what I got used to in the beta. Although...the domination map from beta for S.V.E.R. seemed so much harder to defend than the others. Hopefully they intend to have more than just a single map for each mode.

Played closed and open betas. The open beta cleaned up midway through. Early on the servers weren't ready for the onslaught of players. Tried Raven this time and some of the Euro players are pure American haters to say the least. Still an extremely fun game but w/o teamwork matches can turn into monotonous death nightmares (-.-*)

All and all I certainly plan on picking this up but none of my online friends are interested. Not sure which group as of yet but leaning twards S.V.E.R. Hope to see lots of you guys online!

I didn't really get knifed too much for it to be a real issue to me, but the reduced sprint duration was noticeable. But then again the only time I really went with heavy gear was when I had to defend Objective C, which meant standing in a hallway with grenades and gunfire, which meant being knifed was the least of my worries. Though it would be nice to know just how effective each gear type is definitively compared to each damage type (knives/bullets/explosions) so we can be better prepared for the changing situations.

As for the map thing, there will more then likely (or at least I'm greatly hoping) be more then one map for each different objective. With the Beta, it was a download so we already had to install 6 different maps. But with the disc, they'll have a lot more space to work with. And I totally agree that some maps work better then others, in Sabotage, the SVER and Raven Uplink centers were more or less buildings that were in the middle of wide open areas with stairwells facing the home team's spawn camps meaning invaders were sitting ducks when they tried to get in. Valor's uplinks however were just little towers surrounded by plenty of cover on the ground floor and total ass to defend. Hopefully every side has their good maps and their bad maps though.

I think I did, but they haven't had the servers up yet as far as I know. It's like the beginning of the final beta all over again

Hopefully this then means that they are going to let you have multiple characters on the same account.

Seeing those trophies, I do hope they let you have at least 3. I tried out each faction during the closed beta, and I liked S.V.E.R. the best. It seemed like Raven was all the kiddies and Valor was all the casual people that like army games.

They say that once you level up enough on one character you're able to make a second character on a different faction for up to three characters.

    http://blog.mag.com/blog/2010/01/mag...-0-statistics/

If you remember our box art reveal last month, then you may also remember that we coupled statistics from MAG Beta 4.0 and 4.5 right alongside it. Now, the numbers from the open testing period that ended last Sunday (MAG Beta 5) have arrived too – and in fine Zipper tradition, we wanted to share some of those stats with you, our dedicated fans.

    Here’s what we have:

    * Before the end of the beta on January 10, there were well over a million downloads (860,000 in North America alone) of the MAG beta client worldwide.
    * Of the 619,000+ people who gained at least one point of experience, 52,846 of them qualified for Squad Leader, 10,249 people qualified for Platoon Leader, 3,181 warriors made it all the way to OIC, and a mere 143 diehard soldiers made it to the level 60 experience cap.
    * The breakdown of PMC preference ended up like this: Valor – 38.7%, Raven – 37.2%, SVER – 24.1%
    * Who won the Beta 5.0 Shadow War? Despite their smaller numbers, SVER took the Sabotage war – barely edging out Raven. Meanwhile, Valor took the Domination title; narrowly escaping a loss to Raven’s flock.
    * More than 225 years worth of battles were played out over the week — with an average of 3.2 hours played per person.
    * For the third beta period in a row, of all PSN users who participated in our testing phase, chennault2424 was the most prolific – he earned nearly 110,000 XP; making his grand total for the last three testing periods in excess of 360,000 experience points.
    * Though chennault was the top guy, the remaining Top 5 list of players included My_Digital_Enemy, gomi-bukuro (jp), basquasher (jp), and Behike (jp).

And that’s it for this installment of the MAG Beta report. For more on MAG and what to expect when it hits shelves on January 26, keep checking back with the PlayStation Blog and Official MAG Blog in the coming days and weeks – and don’t forget to follow Zipper on Twitter and the Zipper Facebook Fan Page!

For anyone wondering whats going to change from the beta: MAG beta vs final game

Can't wait until tomorrow. I know it'll largely be overshadowed by mass effect, but I'll probably be on most of the day tomorrow.

So I never got to play this, but how did the servers handle all the players online? I had heard that the gameplay sucked balls though. It was slow and had some quirky controls. Is any of that being address for release? Were they even really issues?

Slow, I assume you meant respawn timer? Well that's what I found the most annoying. It's there to coordinate the teams and makes sense due to the scale of the battles. The gameplay wasn't slow but it wasn't Unreal fast (pun).

This game looks so much better then MWF2 right now. Not sure if this or BF will be better. Does MAG have vehicles? I thought I read something on that before.
