Oh man, I had only been doing Sabotage and Aquisition, but I just tried my first Domination match and it was the most fun I've had in an FPS. Unbeliveably chaotic, buildings are shaking and crumbling, explosions left and right, alarms blaring and non-stop hordes of enemies. Shits awesome.

With a game like this it's probably better to wait a bit anyway, it means that all those lone wolf, superhero type gamers who come in here thinking it's just a kill-em-all fest and ignore teamwork and tactics will realize that they're doing it wrong and either start changing their playstyle or straight up quit. I mean the best games I played last nights where the ones where the leaders actually knew how to modify and direct the objectives and actually tried to move together with their squads. With Sabotage there's not much for leaders to do, but with Acquisition and Domination, having a good leader and squads that can work together makes all the difference.

    Few things

    1)how is the lag?
2)how big do game range? 10 to 200 or are they all just 200+?
3)in the beta I got owned by my own team does this happen a lot? Or is it rare?

I loved the 1st socom, and did play the 2nd a lot the beta did not feel anything like it to me, was sorta a turn off.

People seem to kill me quicker than I can kill them.. Are you guys using iron sights? They seem to feel less accurate than from the hip shooting.

lag is next to nothing thanks to dedicated servers.

games range depending on game mode, some are 64 players, some 128, some 256.

teamkilling happens. although there should be less intentional team killing in the actual retail game, as most of the assholes who just downloaded the beta to fuck with other players probably aren't going to buy the game.

i hate iron sights in this game. the optical sights attachments make aiming so much easier.

Played this last night over a friend's place. He got in the beta and I have to say that the final release feels a lot better than when we last played the beta. Maybe it's just my imagination but the graphics seem sharper, and that made it easier to pick out distant targets. The controls are still good, though I'd like a dedicated grenade button. The sprinting compared to MW2 is much better. You can run a lot further(though with the map size you really need it, heh), and I like that you can go straight from crouched to sprinting and the game crouches you again when you stop.

My biggest complaint based on playing last night is that contextual commands are really... I guess imprecise would be the best word. I was playing as SVER and was doing a lot of repairing, especially bunker turrets. However, once I got that turret online I'd try to get back in the bunker to use it or get my health back up and I found the spot on the bunker that would bring up the little "Press O to enter" to be really small and placed in an almost arbitrary place, not a great big spot on the obvious door, like I expected. It was very frustrating.

    Isn't that the point?

Being a fan of the heavy guns, I find aiming at the chest and letting the gun rise up on it's own seems to be the best way to take someone out. But then again I always did have horrible aim in FPSs.

Not separate servers like say FFXI, but there are 3 factions. It seems most of BG are running S.V.E.R. at the moment though.

So, while watching some youtube videos of actual gameplay I'm not impressed so far. I know the game has the potential to be good but the graphics remind me of half life on minimal settings. The aiming and shit looks quirky. I mean I dunno, is a lot of that stuff noticable and does it effect the experience at all?

Machine guns I assume? Had that happen to me everytime I tried to use an AR. Those reflex sights add a whole lot to the accuracy ratings on guns though, that's probably why iron sights feel like shooting from the hip

Between the Reflex Sight and the front foregrip, I have no problem hitting what I shoot at using the big Machine gun. However most people seem to prefer the lmgs to the point that they're called op. AR on the other hand generally get passed off as being the weakest gun type. But being the only weapon to get that Grenade launching attachment, they certainly do have their own advantages.

As said before, you don't really pick a server to play on, it's just that most shooters have one player act as a host so their connection can screw over other players to cause lag. With dedicated servers, if one person lags, everyone gets the same lag.

But yea, most of BG...and seemingly everyone else who got this game...are with SVER. I'm guessing that Gamestop pre-order code thing played a big part in a lot of people's decision of factions to join with. That and the fact that SVER's maps are ridiculously easy to defend and a total ass to attack.

I just picked this game up yesterday and I am going to set it up when I get home from work today. Everyone at my work joined SVER so I guess that is the route I will go as well lol. I hope there are enough guys on the other factions to fight against.

Looks like it will be fun.

So what builds are you guys using? I originally maxed out athleticism for the sprint bonuses and the extra 20 hp was a lot more helpful than I thought, as well as buying a few attachments for the large machine gun.

However I respeced and went with the 50 cal sniper as well as the personal defence smg which has also been working out, although it really sucks they reduced the magazine size for the smg to 13 from 30. It's been working out really well so far, since aside from the small ammo capacity the smg can compete with the assault rifle and large machine gun in small spaces. The 50 cal is also great because most people don't use heavy armor, so most of the time you can take people out with 1 shot. I know most people are vehemently against sniping in this game, but I've actually found it to be very useful when you still go for objectives and raise people rather than sticking to the same spot for 30 minutes and ignore orders only to get a whopping 10 kills.

I will say though, that I have been deliberating respecing again for the shotgun. I managed to scavenge one off someone in domination and pulled of a 11 kill streak, although it really only seems useful for the latter half of domination games where you're primarily having indoor fire fights.

Decided to pick this up last night and ran through training and one match of supression. So far so good, everything seems paced a lot better then MW I think I will enjoy it. Loved being able to kill people from the hip with the sniper rifle, that was quite satisfying.

Rolling SVER, feel free to add me PSN: Archeron69
Just let me know you're from BG.
