Video card not working

Ok here's my problem, I have a XFX Geforce 9600 GSO video card, I bought it 5-6 months ago and it was working fine. A month ago it stopped working and my monitor was unable to display a signal. I sent it to get it repaired and they said nothing was wrong with it but sent me a new one.

Now, I plug my replacement video card in, updated the firmware to it, and now my games will either crash or my monitor will lose signal again. I don't believe it's the video card since it's a replacement. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing it? Could it be the PCI-Express bus went bad?

AMD Athlon 64x2 Dual Core 4400+ Processor, 2.30 GHz

I'm considering just saying screw it, and get a new pc that has Windows 7.

It's possible your slot is malfunctioning, best way to test it is with another video card (cheap PCIe card)...

Memory errors will give you a blue screen, Processor errors will be generally detected way before you could even start Windows.

Doubt it's a driver issue since you're not getting a signal at all. Isolation to motherboard isn't far at all.

You probably have an on board video port? I recently had some video problems myself and had to go through the whole slew of troubleshooting things: test the monitor with a different video card, test it with the onboard graphics, test a different video cable, and then test with a different monitor. Turned out the monitor just died D:

There is a chance that the power supply is crappy, coming from a pre-built system. The only way to be sure on your own is to test each component with another. If you are going to just buy another computer, try downloading and installing 7 on this one, see if it fixes stuff lol, might as well

I know it's not the monitor since I tested it with the on-board video card and I have not have had any problems with it. If there wasn't enough power supply going to the video card, then the red light would be on, and when I checked it when it lost signal, there was no red light.
