Ridill isn't bad, but all the WARs that still wanted to put out the best damage dropped their Ridill-intensive merits for Great Axe builds. Mine comes out of storage maybe once every three months if I want to parse it against something.

Ridill still has its few situational uses. Zhi I suggest you refrain from calling people idiots then making a statement saying Ridill is the best weapon for war in most situations. That's flat out wrong. As are the people saying Ridill is useless.

I tried getting back in to XI recently. Wanted to re-install then remembered I had given all of my gil away, and had no items of value anymore. Plus, most, if not all of my friends on the server had quit. Also heard WoTG progression was shitty.

Should have sold the gil last year and made 50% more money. You're not going to get 11k for 500mil now, it's more like 19$ per mil, and people tend to expect a discount when buying in huge bulk. Looking at like 9500$ minus paypal fees. A year ago it was 36$/mil+ would have made an easy 18000$

Either way, money's money. Coming back and spending all that gil is meh. FFXI is still fun if you can find the right group of people to do shit with (which is why I still play). The game itself can be boring, but friends can be highly entertaining.

Honestly its up to you. Also, don't go by the mentality that this game will die once XIV comes out, because it won't.
