    Strange desktop issue

This has now happened 2x on my desktop and I have absolutely no idea what is going on. First things first my desktop consists of:

    Windows 7 Professional
    Intel E8500 w/ Zalman 120mm heatsink/fan
    Saphire HD4890
    1TB HDD
    Corsair 750watt PSU
    Gigabyte EP45 mobo
    Microsoft sidewinder X8 mouse
    Old ass IBM PS/2 keyboard

The rest of the stuff I don't think would be causing the problem.

What is happening is, the PC decides to just start freaking out. It will scroll all the way down a webpage, start typing things I typed before (Oddly it always seems to type the same thing "I am trying to quit smoking", not sure if this was even my conversation since I haven't ever tried to quit. It will keep the conversation going though.) It randomly will click or press enter, like if I am on my desktop and it does it, it randomly will press the borderlands shortcut and open that up. While all of this is happening, the mouse is really hard to control because it goes to like 4000dpi regardless of what the setting on the mouse shows.

Now I don't really think that this is a virus or anything as, it has happened on my desktop only, which to be honest gets used once a week. Plus the first time it did this, I reformatted from Windows XP to Windows 7 beta, and since have reformatted to Windows 7 pro.

I am kind of leaning towards it being an issue with the mouse, but when I unplug it the problems don't go away so I am really not sure. It still randomly will start typing old conversations and opening applications on the desktop.

When this happens I usually just restart the PC and I am problem free for a while. It's just really annoying and I'd like to try and get rid of the problem all together as, it makes playing games when I do play them bothersome.

Here's to hoping someone else has encountered the same problem and will know what's up!

Have you ever made use of the Remote Assistance feature? From what i understand it allows others to control your computer remotely. Help desk services often utilize this to offer support. Obviously, there is potential for abuse and I keep it disabled. I see you reformatted, but is the computer on a network?

I live in the middle of no where with no neighbors by myself. I am on a network, but it's just with my laptop, desktop and 360. The router is in the basement and I can't even get a wireless signal upstairs in the living room with my PS3. Closest person to me is, Jesus, about 10 acres away. He doesn't speak English and pretty sure he doesn't know how to use a computer lol.

I haven't used remote assistance. The problem isn't random, it always does the same thing, which never happened until I switched from my G9 to the Sidewinder X8, that's what leads me to believe that I have a faulty mouse and perhaps the on board memory is causing the issue? Any thoughts on that theory?

Hm, sounds plausible. Do you have additional drivers installed, or are you just using the Windows default? If you have any additional drivers(i.e. Intellipoint) I would try uninstalling them to see if it makes a difference. Afterwards you might try updating to the most recent drivers. Also, a google search indicated the Blue Track technology doesn't favor cloth mouse pads, though you've probably tried multiple surfaces. Just some things to try.

I am using a razr exactmat (made of aluminum), and at first I thought it might be doing it because I didn't have intellipoint installed, so I installed it. Using either default drivers or intellipoint didn't make a difference.

You mentioned a desktop and a laptop. Are these symptoms present on both? If so, I would suspect hardware failure, given you had no issues with your old mouse.
