Stargate Worlds is the reason FFXIV will fail!
Stargate Worlds is the reason FFXIV will fail!
Diablo III probably won't come out because the world is ending in 2012 and it's most likely won't be out by then.
In a serious note, by looking at how blizzard has handled starcraft 2, D3 is probably going to get delayed. "it's done when it's done." Which is 2 years after the date everyone expects it to come out.
Is FFXIV dying?
Fixed
Back in your hole.
Anyway, thanks the few who shared their thoughts. Sorry to others if this wasn't the appropriate place to post this. i just like hearing thoughts from the more mature players but judging by some of the post some people have yet to get there (gotta love bg)
See ya in FFXIV
We're all dying.
See, you think this is a place where you can make any kind of thread you want and you won't be swimming in a pool of sharks when you make a thread that looks exactly like the threads over here:
http://ffxiv.zam.com/forum.html?game=268
Let me try to talk to you like you want some help.
Ask yourself these questions.
1) Does my thread contain information new to bgboards?
2) Is my information based on credible sources (see Elmer-originated threads)?
3) Is there more to the potential for discussion than "Yes" "No" or "We don't know yet because there are no confirmed details?"
Meeting at minimum all three of these criteria is sufficient to provoke the mature discussion you claim to seek. Besides that...well, be prepared for some backlash from folks who disapprove of this being ZAM2 for FFXIV Speculation Chat.
"But then all the threads will just be about official press statements and media leaked to the Internet! We won't get to discuss our hopes, fears and dreams about Eo'Zora!"
Right, exactly.
Thanks for the Advice.
I'm not familiar with that site you linked as i only post on BG.
Whatever thread you speak of was coincidence. if it was at that site.
ill note the points you made in posting, but i still standby my argument for this thread. It doesn't take knowing a lot about this game to tell me your thoughts on my question.
But i see what you're saying people don't want to answer unless they have sufficient knowledge to answer, which is understandable. But if i think its a decent question to ask i still will post it. How else will i get my post count up xD, i must catch up to my old-friend Mizango! (heh)
The star trek mmo looks absolutely freaking terrible. I don't think I've even made it to the end of one of the teaser videos before falling asleep. It seems to have the action of Star Trek: The Motion Picture.
Honestly I'm sizing up FF14 compared with Bioware's Star Wars MMO. A story driven MMO made by bioware, the maker of half of my favorite games of all time.. where the hell do I sign up.
Final fantasy is a niche game. It'll get a huge amount of initial players because it is Final Fantasy and the franchise is extremely well known. Those players will fall off going back to where they came from or to the next game after they come to realize it's SE and an asian MMO and will undoubtedly be grindy/slow paced (and you still can't jump). It'll be left with a solid core of players that will stay pretty much constant. It being one of the only MMOs on consoles will increase it's playerbase substantially.
It'd probably best to see for yourself why people hate those forums in the future. I'll put my 2cents in on this topic since you wanted replies.
First, you really have hype confused with a measure of success. Hype's great for initial sales, but for the MMO market that doesn't mean as much when you've got such a long term game that brings in most of its money through subscriptions (or item shops). Age of Conan and the Warhammer MMO seemed to have plenty of hype around them but they fell short in the market despite that.
Also, if you're concerned about XIV's lack of hype then you should read about how SE has said they're holding off on info about the game until they launch XIII. Seeing as that's coming out in Japan in Dec the news should start picking up again in a few weeks.
You're really not going to get much more out of this topic and worrying about it is pointless until XIV gets released. There's really no way to know how good or bad the game will do until we see how it launches and how SE handles things initially.
I think more and more people are playing MMORPG's. So while the new titles sound good, there'll be even more mmo-newbies spread out amongst them.
More like woosh? or was the sarcasm not noted?
I'd say FFXI will do more to hurt FFXIV than WoW. As was said higher up, FFXI is a niche game. Most likely FFXIV will continue to be a niche game and not mainstream. FFXI and the fact that isn't an asian game could very well keep any big mainstream hype for the game at bay and only fans of FF games looking into it heavily.
I certainly think there's a chance FFXIV "fails", but that rests far more on SE's shoulders than any competition out there. If it's a good game it'll get people to play it, if it's not it'll be discarded and people will move on like all the other MMO's that have come out.
is fallout online still confirmed? all i've seen are random articles about companies suing companies, but maybe i haven't paid enough attention. i'm most likely going to play ffxiv regardless of anything else, but i'd also probably be more excited about fallout online than final fantasy online.
sometimes I actually do wish threads like this got moved to spam just so we could fill them with complete trash and piss people off.
seriously, don't post shit like this.
What I'm curious to see is if people are still willing to play a "slow paced" mmo in 2010. The hardcore FFXI fan might not have any issue with it, but I don't know if most gamers are going to last more than a month or two.
Of course, I'm assuming the gameplay will be somewhat similar to 11 (slow movement, a lot of grind, not rewarding), which is a huge guess at this point.
