Wasn't FFXI their first attempt at a large-scale & international MMO? If so, sheesh... cut them some slack.
I would actually prefer it if only Elmer got to post info on this game for the time being, as some people just seem unable to control themselves about this game.
And by unable to control themselves, i mean unable to stop themselves from posting every little thing that pops into their heads and is loosely related to this game.
i bet you guys ff13 gameplay will give us a view of how ff14 will be like![]()
OUT
Just have Elmer's "Collection of FFXIV news" thread stickied and everything will be ok.
I think the main top MMOS will be
Aion
FFXIV
Knights of the Old Repbulic
I don't think Diablo 3 will scale really to comparison I personally think that type of game is past its time if they are going to do it like diablo 2 and just improve graphics
All Square-Enix needs is a handful of shitty washed-up celebrities to promote FFXIV and it will never die.
Perhaps Ozzy Osbourne, Verne Troyer, and maybe Mr. T?
Mr.T Is a wow addict
He looks like a character from the game himself lol
It could be the sheer distancy SE had towards its playerbase, the ways it would constantly shit on them (AV, various nerfs), the major inconsistiencies (sometimes a suspension could be issued over a discussion in say, and sometimes MPKing multiple LS's warrants not even a slap on the wrist).
I'm giving it a chance no doubt, however I can understand why people would want to dodge this.
why is this thread still happening?
WoW will still be up there, cataclysm will be epic enough to give any of those games a run for their money. I don't think Aion is a great game, it's getting lots of disgruntled WoW players who are bored and waiting around for 3.3, people who are gonna pick WoW back up to see how Wotlk ends.
FFXIV will be great if SE has matured enough to have everything that was bad about XI fixed.
One mob and nerfs from 5 years ago is the reason why someone wouldn't want to play the game? Priorities, priorities..
I'd understand if the guy got a permaban for a reason like that, but in reality everything else is kind of moot. In 5 years you make like 5 GM calls and few of those times the GM isn't helpful at all to you? Unforgivable.
And even if SE is distant, I can see the updates have gotten much better in the last years (with content getting smaller, but would that be the fault of the game getting older? Perhaps!). However we only remember the shit SE gave us 5 years ago and the errors made in the RoTZ era, not what SE is like today (which is all that matters in the case of XIV, really).
Did you completely miss my point?
-AV, which after 5 years, has still been unkillable. Every time it is killed, it gets patched. Even THEORIES that happen to hold water get nerfed to shit before they're even used (Mordus Veritas).
-The absurd drop rates on the new NM's go to show again how SE thinks, "lets force people to play by putting NM's on 2hr fixed repops, but make the drop rate so low they have to play to get it, excellent".
-3 years, and they still havent gotten campaign right (they're close, un-nerfing fortifications would go leaps and bounds).
-For the past couple months, the playerbase, that they refuse to communicate with, has said to block trial accounts from doing certain things. One of which is sending those lovely "BROSALE BV74 NO WAIT ONLY SPEED" tells. What does SE give us instead? A broken filtering system that doesnt even work.
-Most recent patch, about Synergy. "3rd Part (During the last part of November) This will be a version update with maintenance", well unless theyre going to spring out patch notes, drop the servers in a couple hours, its not happening. This isnt the first time its happened.
-6 years, they cling to "PS2 limitations", PS2 is a dead system, get over it. They killed off Windows 2000 support.
Before you go "IF U HATE IT QUIT", I've invested a lot into XI, which is why I continue to play, I've accepted these thing, and can deal with it. However. start from scratch if theres a chance SE will continue to act they way they do? No...no.
-One mob, that has been unkillable for 5 years, still hasn't been killed. Meanwhile, 99,999% of the other mobs in the game have been killed. Oh the horror if FFXIV will have once again one mob that can't be killed in five years. That will ruin the game for sure.
-The absurd drop rates once again show how SE designed FFXI from the start. It has been like this from the very beginning. If you think that they'd suddenly start giving out ridills and relics with WoW-like drop rates, you're delusional. It's not that they don't want to, but unfortunately that kind of move would destroy the whole game, so they can't do it. FFXIV is a fresh start, which means there's nothing they -can't- do. But just because they still continue to release content with poor drop rates doesn't tell us anything about their mindset on XIV. Only that XI is a game with low drop rates and SE can't do much about that without breaking the game.
-Campaign was 'right' for me 2 years ago. But hey, that's just me. Your opinion matters more here obviously.
-How would that idea work? Trial accounts couldn't send tells? Are you dumb? That would completely ruin the game for real trial players. It's also interesting how you say SE refuses to communicate with us, then say that they gave us a fix to the problem. What's that if not communication?
-I can't recall another time a part of an update has been delayed twice. Mind giving me an example? There has been times a part of the update has been delayed for more testing (einherjar, dyna-tavnazia..) but those have been some rare cases, and the update came when they told us it would. If that made someone upset enough to not try XIV, I can only lol.
-PS2 is still the most played gaming console in the world. It's the number 1 platform XI is played on in Japan. You can't be serious..
Oh noes, starting from scratch to realize that there is one mob that can't be defeated, realize that the prequel of the game that was designed to kick your ass had poor drop rates, And SE not doing exactly what the playerbase tells them to fix things? What a horrible experience would that be!
Also making 5 GM calls in 5 years and not getting good service, whole game is ruined.
And if part of an update gets delayed by a month? Bring the torches, this calls for a revolution!
And god forbid if a player on another server you've never heard of gets accidentally suspended! Time for revenge, it's a personal matter at that point.
