Connecting To the Internet in an Embassy

So I got a buddy stationed at the embassy in Iraq and he can't connect to the internet when playing games. He can connect to the internet for browsing etc, but when he tries to play online with his ps3 or ffxi it says there's no connection.

What gives?

They probably have ports blocked, and if that's the case, there's not much he can do about it without bugging the ITs of the network.

He said it's not that b/c he unblocked them.

It could be the broadband port on the PS3. If the test connection doesn't find a connection then it's the cable or the port on the system that's damaged if it's not the internet equipment. Have him do the test to confirm. If necessary have him set up the connection manually too.
