Yeah, can't say I picked up on it being a gavel.
I was trying to fit the scales of justice on there, but I'm not sure if I can replicate it in a pixelized fashion.

Let me know if any of these are useable.

They are currently 15x15. I can make them 60x15 if the idea is to have all of these icons that size. I should even be able to make the space around them transparent if I increase their width.

hmm, adding width to those and putting the city name on them might not be a bad idea but then again there is very little need for specific city based icons, maybe ones based on jobs and HNMs would be better

Is there any way to turn them off? They are completely useless and for flair only. For those who don't like thread titles being stretched another inch or being barraged by random images as they scroll it is annoying and ugly.

These aren't anywhere near as irritating as the overwhelming majority of user avatars/sigs.

might do better with making it a fist, the font is a little hard to read but not bad

You're going to want to prefer using fonts that look good at 8-9 pixels tall, which excludes just about any skinny font out there. At max resolution on a lot of modern monitors you can't get too fussed about the text. Something iconic like seen on the threadless shirt here http://www.threadless.com/submission...Ultimate_Combo is much easier to read at tiny sizes.

Actually my recommendation would be to change the background color.
It may make the font pop better than when it's on the white.

You can also try bolding the font if it's a true type font.

Upgrading my PC atm, but I going to do the aforementioned SRK idea for the Fighting genre later tonight. It'll be easy to read at a low resolution.
