Hon. BA in Linguistics, currently fleshing out my degree for teachables with the goal of teaching High School English, as linguistics is a fine intellectual pursuit but not so practical of a career
Junior at Purdue going for math education and computer science degrees.
Freshman at Indiana University majoring in Biotechnology. After graduation I'll either end up working for a biomedical/genetics research company or going to grad school. Don't know that far ahead yet.
LIFE SCIENCES UP IN THIS MOTHERFUCKER
I went to Wayne State University (school in Detroit, it's not a terrible school at all) originally my freshman year because of swimming. I gave that up midway through the season. I ended up going to it for my freshman and sophomore years. I then transferred to Michigan State University, finished up 3 years afterwards. I was a super senior and I don't regret it. I love that school w/ all my heart and if I could get myself stuck in time, it would be during those years.![]()
Majoring in Engineering Tech (Electrical).
bachelor's in fine arts, intermedia. currently doing nothing particularly related to it... just finished up a year of teaching english as a second language. I'll be starting grad work in TESL this january. getting a grad cert first, then will travel the world drinking/hiking/language-ing/seeing stuff and slaying for another year. then finish the masters, and continue previous worldwide endeavors. ideally I'll be in a university position for the mad benefits/vacation, meanwhile doing whatever artsy shit I feel like because I like it.
I think I want to do some non-profit/volunteer stuff once I get a little more established with experience/credentials.
all of my friends who joined the peace corps said it was really rewarding and an experience of a lifetime.
r.i.p.
lol
Only one other business major in here but me, le sigh![]()
I got my Novell one and the first part of my Net+ paid for when I worked for IBM. IBM is a shit place to work mainly due to the travel you had to do and the long ass hours but it was located down here in the University area about 6 mins away and appealed to my fresh out of college walking/busing needs at the time. The rest of there were paid for and partially paid for by Microsoft. They have a really, really good employee "continuing education" program, that paid for my certifications. As long as you actually attended the classes, kept your studying up, kept your grades up and furnished them with proof them the company comes out of pocket and pays for them for you.
The only certification I have and I, myself paid for is my A+ certification. I took that during the summer between my freshman and soph. year in college and sprung for it to help me make ends meet as a PC repair tech. Evil empire yeah yeah I know, but they have a lot of neat little programs and benefits for employees. They send you for routine Windows training and server training paid for by them so why not. I know Windows and Gates get a lot of flack about world domination and all but if they don't do shit else I will say that they do give a shit about education. They pay very well also![]()
The one I worked at was off of Arrowood road in South Charlotte and is actually really close to a lot of the training facilities and was EASILY in walking distance. Walk 1 block to take classes when I don't have shit to do anyway? Sign me up.
I finished up my PhD this year in technology ethics and I'm working for some EU research projects into ethical issues and governance of emerging technologies.
I don't have a PhD but you could call me Dr. Love
my friends call me Summa
Associates of Technology, N+, A+, MCSE cert.
Now I'm going in for Associates of Applied Sciences for Culinary school. Kind of did a 180 in terms of a career.
I'll drop dimes on me and my friends here
