I actually think this is geared more toward mobile devices. YouTube is the only reliable video that a lot of mobile devices work with. Until flash is made for mobiles, allowing access to network sites and hulu, impulse buys from YouTube may be the only option for many people stranded in an airport or w/e...

If it were pointed at mobile devices I don't know that they'll succeed on a per-stream vs. per-download licensing scheme.

Pay Per Stream IMO is a silly idea, and will likely be told it is to any executives at google.
i for one wouldn't use a service like this, i know, internets needs to be profitised for TV etc, but this kind of system is just going to flood other ways of getting your tv shows. ie torrenting.

a subscription based thing say ($10-15 max) per month, tv shows after or during their scheduled airing time becoming available for you to watch, and so you dont feel cheated you can watch any episode for up to a month later. this is sort of what the BBC iPlayer is good for and this is a free internet service provided by them to give any viewers who may have missed something to then go and watch it for up to a week later. Some shows even have an entire series left up for a while. i couldn't live without having iPlayer since i do have many overlapping things going on it makes me feel less cheated on great programming.

then again, you could just get a TiVo and not bother with any of this.

i wonder if they do this, will they stick commercials in the episodes too and double up?

Can't wait for piratebay's video website to open... If it ever does.
same here. although, i'm extremely skeptical they will pull it off.

Doesn't your TV tax pay for the iPlayer? At any rate, it's also only limited to you area anyhow since they IP-block the app for foreigners, where-as YouTube I presume would try to be more broad on that based on licensing.

Why are companies so obsessed with pay-as-you-go services? This is fucking retarded. They must think people are made of money.
