Need help with university work regarding tv shows

I had heard that 24, Lost, and Hostel or Saw might be worthwhile resources for an investigation i'm doing on the psychology of torture, specifically focusing on the torturers, however, i wouldn't really know where to start looking in terms of episodes in regards to 24 and Lost cause i'm not familiar with that series. Would appreciate anyone pointing out which specific episodes have that specific theme so i can check them out and see if they would be of some use.

Also, i need the program power point but i've recently realized that i do not have the damn thing. Anyone have a link to where i can dl one for free?

oh crap, i forget what episodes to use from lost. but there are a couple in particular that are very good. They went into his motivation for doing it, how he changed from doing it, and how he is still dealing with it after the fact. But those episodes had to deal with one of the characters pasts during the US-Iraq war.

Other than those couple episodes, he does torture a couple people in the show (present day). Though youde have to watch the series to figure out what episode ; ;.

GDI i wish i could be more help but i rented the series... I dont own it. If i owned it id be able to help you more as those were my favorite episodes.

I've only just started watching 24 after a friend began shoving season box sets into my hands. Getting season 3 tomorrow which I'm looking forward to.

As for torture scenes, season 2 has episode 20 in which Jack Bauer is being tortured. 19 may have a bit of the start of the torturing but I don't quite remember.
Season 2 also has episodes 11 to 13 in which someone is tortured, but it's under orders by the US president, so it's nothing as brutal.

As for season 1... I don't recall and torture scenes of note.

The most recent season (I think 7?) of 24 is almost entirely about torture. Starts with Jack Bauer being in senate hearings for his use of torture. And there are many times throughout the season where he is like, "HE HAS THE INFORMATION, LET ME HAVE A MINUTE WITH HIM." Consequently, I no longer watch that show.

In this season, a female FBI agent tortures someone, but struggles with it throughout the seasom

There's also an episode in this season where the FBI allows Jack to enter a room to intimidate a suspect, but not torture. Jack doesn't quite follow the orders. However, I think intimidation has a lot to do with the psychology of torture.. That may be helpful as well.

I'm sure I am forgetting a couple of scenes but I know these have the main ones dealing with how Sayid became a torturer and the effects it has on his life.

It's also very worth looking into Season 6 of The Shield, where Vic goes completely off the rails looking after a particular murderer, involving some pretty intense torture scenes. The whole series flirts with degrees of torture but it gets pretty extreme by the end.

I have seen a few episodes of Alias with Christian Slater, it might be interesting for that work as he basically tortures himself by putting his other self into dangerous situations to test and train.
I don't watch those other shows at all so I couldn't help you there... that Alias one is just off the top of my head. If you're looking for movies along the same lines, I'm pretty sure you need to include Fight Club in there.
Oh thought of one more along just torture... There were two episodes where Nick was trapped in a coffin underground and he was placed on a bomb that would explode if his weight was shifted. The two last episodes on this list.

I dont think you could use Saw, well maybe.. There are two aspects of Saw.

The first being Jigsaw (the good bad guy) where it's not really torture, it's about forcing those certain people to over come obstacles in their life and to better their self. The second being Mark Hoffman (the bad bad guy) where he's in it for just killing people for fun.

So could do a comparison of the two, why does someone torture for 'good' (Jigsaw/24) and why do some torture just for the fun of it (Mark/Hostel).

Hostel is just killing for the fun of it. The basic premise is that these people go to said country (forget, Germany maybe), and pay these guys to brutally tortue and kill.

Anyway, the supplementary information from media will be helpful. Particularly 24, seeing as how i have heard that some people in the government had often used 24 as an example of how using torture works.
