Well it all goes back to the THF theorem:
- THF do one awesome thing (SA a WS; Sack mobs; Make something drop)
- Then they become utterly useless for the rest of the event (SA not up; Dead and need raise; Hey guys, look how many crystals I'm getting us)
- The combination of these things makes THF's total output zero

Agreed. I'd have hoped someone with a relic might carry an evasion set, or marksmanship set with Xbow and bloody bolts or *something* to deal with him.

Also, losing to nin Maat at 75 is pretty bad, that fight is absurdly easy.

THF Maat is actually pretty tough if you're not doing the steal method. I agree with Failure and that its actually one of the harder Maat fights.

Well, at 66 you open with a SA-WS, which seems to me is probably similar damage to a solo SA from a 75 (I could be off here), you follow that with an Icarus Wing + WS for a skillchain (ok, after this, it's definitely more than a solo SA).

From my personal experience at 66...I was doing perfectly fine, at near full HP, his triple attacks were generally manageable with meds, then suddenly he landed a triple attack where I didn't evade any of the 3 (yay random~) and I suddenly find myself at ~150 HP, his next swing kills me. /shrug. There's definitely a random factor to it, and that makes it one of the hardest IMO. Some of the other ones people call hard aren't random at all, and people just enter with a bad plan/etc.

QFT, or when Dancing Edge decides to screw you over and only do 40~ dmg. Luck is very heavy at 66 THF maat. I went 1/4 personally.

It still can be. You can get enough gear and INT to cap your magic accuracy, but if Maat says "no fanks, not tired today", you're SOL.

Not really, THF Maat is easy if you're geared for it and bring meds. Didn't have an evasion setup or anything.

he's trying to imply that nq staffs weren't always 8k, haubergeons weren't always 150k, and you didn't always ding 66 with full merits from other jobs

Nah, I'm just saying THF Maat isn't as big of a pain as a lot of people make it out to be. I only lost my first time because I accidentally hit my PD macro instead of Flee. Whereas BLM and RDM Maat were pains in my ass because they seemed to resist my binds/sleeps which usually got me killed.

Even before the patch, I still consider THF Maat harder than RDM Maat. Back before ToAU I went 1/1 on my other character with NQ/shitty gear.

I beat maat on Mandau bard with a moderate TP setup, SV minuet and march. I took 10 swings and maat gave up.
