Goodness, that's a beastly mobo. Take a look at this EVGA motherboard. You'll lose an x16 pci-e slot, as well as an x1. You'll lose two onboard sata slots, and you'll gain a usb slot. It's part of a combo deal with your specified processor, so you'll save fifty bucks.

I think the only place you can save money is with the motherboard. I would get a cheaper mobo and put the extra money into a better video card. For nvidia at least, I'd say the minimum card these days to buy, is a gtx260.

Yeah, the min is definitely a GTX 260, but ATI 5770's are going for GTS prices, so I would go for a 5770 over the 250 or 260.

I REALLY like this motherboard. It's got pretty much everything you need on a board for a new build, plus EVGA's become very well known for their quality & overclocking stability. If you were cannibalizing old parts tho, you would have a problem with the lack of an IDE connector.

Gonna agree with everyone here on the video card.. Go with the Radeon 5770. You can't beat its combo of performance and reasonable price.

I just built this for sister: https://secure.newegg.com/WishList/M...px?ID=15700447

Upgraded to the 640gb HDD, but like everyone is saying that Mobo is alot for that low end of a build.

Alright ty, I'll swap for the new Graphics card and the mobo, and let's see where that takes me.

Edited in all the suggestions, gonna leave up for a couple days to see if anything pops up, or any suggestions occur.

Can you salvage a DVD drive from an older computer? Would save you the trouble of buying a new one.

Unfortunately my older computer has no DVD drive, seeing how I burnt it out. Atm using an even older CDROM drive just to read CD's. I was actually thinking of scrapping my old computers harddrive. It's 250, which is plenty for me. I also have a 600W PSU in my older comp as well. Hell. I might just buy the mobo, CPU, card and memory and just upgrade my current computer....

That PSU is fine, should just salvage it. And yeah, if you can reuse the case...

My case is kinda borked too. Only has 2 fans, and the door that slides on is broken off, so atm I have it up against my desk wall/leg thing to semi-prevent dust from getting in lol.

Ah, well you should get a new case, but maybe go for a cheaper one that doesn't look as cool, something like this maybe.

OCZ ram. Lower memory timings, lower CAS latency, $10 cheaper, although I don't know how that all stacks up against the higher Voltage of your selected RAM. Perhaps someone with a lil more knowledge could extrapolate.

Dunno if there's a Microcenter in your area, but their prices are competitive with Newegg's and you don't need to pay shipping charges. The one here even has low sales tax since it's in a shitty area.
