BCS just goes to show you that preseason polls basically tell you who will play for the national championship each year.

BCS to Texas: "Hey Texas, you're #1 before the season starts, so win your games and you're in."

BCS to Boise St: "Well you aren't ranked in the preseason, so you won't get to play for the title even if you are the only undefeated team left in the country, better luck next preseason!"

Boise state is probably going to be ranked third in the preseason. That should scare the shit out of the two teams in front of them. Beamer v Peterson next season is going to be epic.

Seriously, how do they come up with this shit of them having 13 National Championship Titles? Those back in the 19-teens through the 30s were awarded retroactively... if we're counting those then Auburn has about 5, yet you ask any Alabama fan out there and it's a 13-0 spread in national titles between Alabama and Auburn.

Fucking hate Alabama fans, but I'm glad the University won tonight.
Yeah, well ESPN just kind of did the same thing to ND lol. They now say ND and Alabama are tied with 8 national titles. They took away 3 of our national titles that were awarded retroactively.

So ND haters, glorious day to you.

Personally, I don't care. I'm more worried about shit we do in the future.

Hey with a new coach, who knows what in the world will happen. Also, if you happen to find your way up to South Bend for the game let me know. I will definitely be doing my damnedest to be out there for the opener.

You will have a beef when Boise St. actually schedules anyone. The only good team BSU played was Oregon from the lolPac10. I'm not saying BSU isn't a good team, but you can't really know unless they play anybody.

That's another reason I think a playoff would help College Football, teams would have more motivation to schedule harder games because they can still make the postseason with a loss or two.

You have it backwards. BSU's stance is simple: we will play anyone, anywhere. It's everyone else that doesn't have the balls to go through with it.

You think any of the Big conference schools want a piece of Boise St after what happened to Oklahoma a few years ago?

Boise St can't even get a 2 year away-away contract against any BCS conference schools.

My point still stands, since their conference is weak, most of their schedule is weak. Even if it isn't all their fault and teams refuse to play them, it's kind of a "tough shit" situation. Regardless, the system is flawed as fuck.

Um, what? Alabama, Texas, Cincinnati, Texas Christian, and Boise State were all undefeated after the regular season. Comparing schedule and wins, there is no fucking question BSU did not deserve to go to the nat champ game over any of these other teams. Tired of this bitching and moaning, jesus.

I think you missed the point.

Point is, that the likes of BSU absolutely have to go undefeated every season and probably won't get a shot regardless.

So, with 2 undefeated teams at the end of this season, one won't get a shot at the title (Boise St). Tell me that's fair. Tell me another sport where your team wins EVERY single contest, and doesn't win the championship. Fuck, tell me another football division in college where that isn't true.

edit: Got sidetracked and forgot to include the point that BCS standings use an average ranking in the polls, which means that teams that run the table and aren't ranked highly in the preseason they are already set behind the 8 ball so to speak.

    18-1.

Boise can't complain about this season because of 5 undefeateds, last year they were undefeated and got shafted a bit, but then lost in their bowl game anyway.

Have you even looked at BSU's schedule? So tired of this "we won every game, we did what we had to!" No, no you did not. That schedule is absolutely pathetic, I don't care if its not totally their fault they can't get into a better conference, the schedule still remains a joke.

So what you're saying is that its ok for teams like Alabama to play in the SEC and schedule games like Florida International, Tenn-Chattanooga, and North Texas? I smell bullshit.

The difference is the SEC conference games are strong competition, but in general I agree that teams schedule too many cupcakes.

Agreed. Auburn's schedule was especially too cupcakey this year. Sure they had WVU, but their other scheduled non-conference opponents were almost as sad as Florida's this year.

Now I'm not saying teams should go out and get 3 major teams from other conferences, but at least one good opponent. Alabama's done well the last couple years with Clemson and Va Tech, and next two years with Penn State. How long Saban actually stays for those games is totally up to him, but still a good job by the university to push to play Joe Pa.

As far as Auburn goes, they better schedule something harder. Next year's schedule is also a joke. :/

Anyway, the SEC has proven to be tougher than other conferences and teams don't like to leave the south obviously, so they do what they can. Should we bring up Texas's non-conference opponents? That Wyoming game must've been a quality opponent since they won their bowl game, right?
