    BBC's Life

This is a review of the new BBC earth production called simply, Life. It is the culmination of more than 4 years of filming, and comes in completely HD shots, the whole way through. It is a bit like Planet Earth part II, although it seeks out specialised and extreme behavior that allow different living things to survive due to their peculiar and amazing adaptations.

It is a ten-part series that was first shown on BBC one last month, but is now out on DVD and Blue-ray, narrated by David Attenborough.

Without wanting to ruin any fantastic settings that the series sets, I'm just going to say that if you enjoyed Planet Earth at all, this is at least as good, albeit different. It's a bit slower in places, but the staggering amount of previously unfilmed behavior is jaw-dropping at times. There are a few things that really blow the mind: Cheetahs who have learned to hunt in a small group to take down much larger prey, Komodo dragons trying to down buffalo, amazing filming of chameleons, etc.

Along with Planet Earth, it is one of the most amazing film experiences that I know of...

I've been watching the series, best part of Monday nights for me
One tonight is about plantlife. The sealife / reptile episodes were my favourites :D

I watched a brief clip of it on youtube last night... the venus flytrap segment gave me the creeps.

You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

The "On Location" sections are probably the most interesting parts to me, even though I still find myself saying "Nature is amazing..." at least 10 times during an epsiode.

I only saw the first episode, and it was pretty cool. Dolphins would kick up dirt in the water surrounding fish. In the confusion, the fish would jump out of the water to escape the circle, right into the dolphin's mouths lol

Yeah I loved the "on Location" parts the most too. That bit on today's episode that took two years to shoot that one-minute scene was crazy *_*

I had a feeling that the shot wasn't "real" (as in, one whole take in the wild) but it was interesting to see the steps involved in creating the shot. It's amazing the amount of detail they go into.

I really like documentaries but for some reason I have never seen this or planet earth. I'll probably dl all the eps and then forget about them for a few months and then finally watch it.

Get it in HD. BBC Wildlife Documentaries cannot be watched in standard definition.

I can't find planet earth in HD, just a random episode or 2.
