Still looking forward to the possibilities of Machissimo (dagger). All's pretty much as I expected so far.

Only thing I don't like about these new weapons and armor is that there's no real... interesting background or storyline involved. There just...there. Know what I mean? It's kind of bleh; would be good if there was a nice background behind the stuff, but I guess this an FFXI tradition.

I know we confirmed the dull versions can't use evolith but did we really confirm their upgraded forms don't use it too? Looked through thread and saw no such thing, I don't think we should assume until we've checked the upgraded ones.

From today's maintenance:

-An issue that interfered with leveling up Synergy technique has been addressed.

I guess they fixed that issue of only being able to train on multiples of 5 if you skipped over one.

Considering that the greatsword is depicted in the update notes where it stats there is new gear purpose made to use Evolith... I wouldn't worry

I'm having a hard time with Synergy level 5 on getting my Smock, anyone level 5 or below get theirs yet?

I was close to getting my fisherman's smock at level 3, but, tanner's smock looks more difficult to do.

If you're that low, you need to have others help to make it (assuming you're trying solo). Someone posted that they made them in a group of 3, with the first having a highest level of 4 and the last being at level 6 for the highest.

I've gone from lv 5 to 9.5 on mine (weaver's, 78 earth 43 wind) solo, and only came close to the appropriate amounts of elemental energy twice. If the impurity amount is to be believed, it was...37% per fewell at 5, so that'd make it lv 43ish. I plan to spam it solo for a while for easy levels. It shouldn't be too bad solo around lv 20ish when it stops exploding every 2-4 times I feed it.

Also confirming that the training issue is fixed--it was still available at levels 6/7/8/9 when I didn't use it.

Yeah I came close to getting a Boneworker's Smock the biggest problem was overloading the furnace so often. I tried spamming repair and stuff, but it didn't seem to help so I just stuck with spam feeding wind and earth fewell.

Aye, I'm getting good skill ups off the Smock synths compared to making OJ, lol.

Elemental staves and snow ring cannot be etched. So far this is looking pretty fail indeed!

I just saw this post from yesterday. So you can augment staves but not etch them? So stupid.

Getting the smocks is damn hard. We just spammed elements with 3 of us. Got mine done in like, 5mins by sheer luck. Managed to get three in a row after an hour though (Didn't click end in time :[) Takes a bit of perseverance and patience but they look damn sexy.

I experimented with Ebon since I didn't have any Aptants.

I traded my Ebon Frock and a Mordant. Etched a slot into it (Target: Earth 40) with my Synergy Skill of like -- less that 3. I successfully etched it.

Then I successfully un-etched it by trading the "reversal" acid you get from Synergy Engineers (Target: Earth 10).

Then I etched it.
Then I un-etched it.
Then I died twice trying to solo Tiffenotte as DNC/NIN due to some bad luck trying to get Furia Pigment and Evolith items.

BUT THE MORAL OF THE STORY IS:
Your items are not at risk, and you can make and unmake. I even failed and just collected my ingredients and tried again. Information for those who weren't willing to gamble 1M+ gil.

You couldn't augment staves or snow rings when FoV Augmentation first came out.

Synergy currently caps at 50. Maybe the recipe to etch them doesn't exist yet.

Has anyone with leathercraft skilled tried to make amphiptere leather with synergy?

Edit: seems some people are claiming that its been added to normal recipes, and a few are on the AH.

Highly suggest against getting a smock now, and fail synthing it is probably the easiest way to reach ~35ish atm, until they add other recipes.

But, it's not like anyone is even going to read or listen to this post, 8 pages is far too much to read. But for those that do read, there ya go.

Could you please post the recipes when you post new items? <_< That's annoying to see that an item you're interested was crafted but the crafter didn't post the recipe.

For the smocks, it is just trading your crafting apron to the furnace. It will then tell you the balance of elemental forces for that recipe.

Fisherman's Smock tho, right? Actually I was well on planning to fail synthing it to the cap, haha.
