Is the 3rd etch on gear/weapons a bitch even at level 50 synergy? It's bad enough that the second synth can be a bitch and produce low sized slots but failing the 3rd is just one of those FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF moments.

Has anyone figured out exactly how you get the numbers on an etch definitively? I could ace the first etch and hit 40/40 on point and get a 6 then do it again and get an 8. The whole thing seems random but idk.

From what I've seen there are 3 contributing factors to increasing your chance at a HQ

#1 being as close to dead on fewell wise as possible

#2 an element is leaking

and #3 an explosion is about to happen

Everytime I have all 3 of these lined up I get a Tier 3 or 4 HQ. I have even managed to HQ when one or two of my fewells were off the mark by 1 or 2.

I got capped synergy skill and it doesnt seem to hard to max the slots. It may take you a couple tries, but you'll eventually get the hang of it.(try to get any -fewell to around 0 if you can)

also urat, i got 2 lvls on repair furnace, and when i use it a couple times, I'll see the hp of the furnace go up a few %.

I'm @ 3 feed, 1 thwak, 2 pressure, 2 saftey, and 2 repair.

Just hit 50, and i did 5/5 feeding 5/5 thwaking. Thwaking is still inconsistant. Still kinda difficult getting 8/8/8 on my ginhaku body. got 8/8/4 on my last one, started leaking right as i was hitting end ;;. So frustrating.

I'm at 42 synergy skill now and trying to make fisherman's cuffs by myself. It doesn't seem like it should be that hard since I just made fisherman's apron myself but I'm having some issues. Every time I try at some point the water elemental power begins leaking from the furnace which builds up Thunder element.

What causes the elemental leak, is it internal pressure? Is it from feeding constant water fewell? Is there any way to stop a leak once its begun? Or a way to lower the thunder element that's increasing which I don't want at all?

If this has been answered earlier in the thread sorry, wiki is pretty incomplete when it comes to synergy information.


edit: nm I sort of figured it out. I spam water so fire gets really negative, then when water starts to leak I spam fire until it stops the leak. At that point the thunder growing will stop and even the fire out. Sorry since it was probably a pretty obvious question, I've gone 0-42 just spamming earth fewell with haste on so I admit I haven't learned much other than how to skill up. Finished the fishing cuffs though too, woot!

Yeah everytime you use a fewell lit lowers other element by 2, I think once an element goes below -10 you run risk of fewell leaking.

Well god damn that was fairly easy. About a week ago I went to Mhaura and synthed like 24 synths worth of earth fewell (at T1) and then spammed the living hell out of mythril nugget synths. I just got on rdm, composure/haste and spammed earth fewell trying to thwack explosions unless under 15%. After about a week of constant spam/failings I'm at 50 synergy and have 4 earth fewell orbs left lol.

0-50 probably only cost me about:
2.5kish per yellow stone x24 = 60,000
2 stacks slime oil @ 9k each = 18,000
2 stacks of catalyic oil @ 97g per = 2,328
2 stacks earth crystals @ 1k each = 2,000
Total: 82,328g

Depends on how many were bought recently. After I bought 24 at 2.6kish they jumped to almost 6k each the next game day.

I think all it does is lower pressure which = how much damage you take and i think it also affects how much damage furnace takes? when there is an explosion. In short preventing an explosion with safety lever (lowers impurity), repair(if it indeed adds enough hp to furnace), and thwack(prevent an explosion) should be best bets...that is how i see it playing out anyways.

Hm I raised my pressure lever skill thinking that high pressure resulted in making it explode. It makes sense to me that way.

As far as Safety Lever goes, Heating Smarts (Culinarian Smock) may be a good replacement for impurity reduction, the drop over time seems pretty good. Of course, unlike the gloves, you have to specialize in Cooking to get it. As for the alternate glove-based thwacks, do the alternate versions produce the occasional "straighter-silhouette" message? I don't have any gloves to test at this point.

Even un-leveled Repair is already pretty useful in group synergizing. The operation takes away too much of your time when going solo, but for a difficult synthesis in a group, one of the main roles for an extra person is to spam repair. If everyone trains up the same abilities in Synergizing, we don't get as much benefit from cooperation; there is a lot of advantage in having a diversity of skills.

I wouldn't rule out recycle just yet. There's no real purpose to increasing cinder yield right now, but I have to wonder about the message about "no effect on fewell reserves or durability", which suggests that in the future (or at higher levels) there may be some alternate result from it. Recycle is another example of an operation that's not practical for a soloist to spend valuable time on, but could be assigned to helpers.

Anyway, at this point I'm really hoping there will be some way to re-assign points. I think maximizing my fewell feeding was a good choice, but I'm starting to regret my other choices.

I did Feeding and Thwacking personally. I was doing the Behemoth Knife synth, and getting knocked back all the time annoyed me to no end. I wasn't parsing or anything, but it was a noticeable increase in success rates, so I'd recommend it.
