    A Serious Man (Coen Brothers)

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1019452/

Just saw this now. Gotta say I enjoyed it, and I'm not particularly religious (or at all Jewish for that matter).

I love the pacing of most Coen Brothers films and this was no different, it's that kind of slow boil narrative where not a lot happens but it builds up constantly. Roger Deakins again provided ridiculously suave cinematography. The look and feel of the entire film was excellent, I especially enjoyed the dope smoking scenes. I could probably write 10000 words on 10 seconds of film and still only scratch at the glory of the cinematography.

    Massive spoilers
    Spoiler: show
As I mentioned, I'm not a religious guy at all, so a lot of the religious sections of the plot went straight over my head. For example, the ending is a direct allusion to Job in the bible, when God tells him he will not apologise for all the misfortune he has suffered - as the form of a giant wind. Hence the tornado.

I'm a big fan of Coen Brothers films in general, and I've been meaning to watch this one, but I keep forgetting to find it. I'll try finding a download or something.

I had the fortune of seeing an early screening of this movie and the lead actor actually showed up and did a little Q&A. I'd have to say that this is definitely up there as one of my favorite Coen brother movies, probably tied for No Country in my book.

    Wow nice.

I'm not sure, I think The Big Lebowski is my favorite for the story, Fargo for the looks and atmosphere. I did like No Country, but for me it didn't feel like a Coen Brothers film. There wasn't that usual quirkiness there usually is in the characters and the narrative.
