New GPU.

I'm not all too tech savvy, so would it be any better than my old one? If not any recommendations on other cards?

That'd be about the same as the 8600GT you have now in terms of graphic quality, tho personally I'd go with XFX or EVGA for a brand to get a better warranty and/or customer service.
