I'm not quite sure what you mean? Do you have a normal hardrive that isn't detected anymore?

It's rarely a good sign when a hardrive stop showing up, but try unpluggin/replugging it in another slot if you can. Might want to check in the bios before to see if it's detected on that level at least.

I've been looking forward the game since the first video/interview. The reason why I'm being negative right now is that the hype is going overboard lately. Coming here and seeing people praise the games for its "1400 events" make me very worried about how easy they are convinced.

Arenanet has proven so far that they have successfully delivered on what they told us we were getting in our MMO. We got a dynamic event system where people can play together rather than play around each other. We got a class system that doesn't make use of the classic holy trinity. We have World vs. World PvP that, so far anyway, looks like has been successfully inspired by and built upon what DAoC had with it. Their entire philosophy of being able to play with your friends whenever you want has been realized by the sidekicking system and extensive level scaling in dungeons and all dynamic events. In addition, you can see from this weekends test footage that as promised, DE's indeed appear scale with how many people are around.

So I honestly don't see a reason why you would want to doubt Arenanet at this point when it very much appears like they know what they are doing, having just made an MMO that makes sense for the genre and all. If all we had to go off going into beta was a bunch of CG trailers I could agree, but we don't. I think we have enough proof to put worries at ease.

I'm not going to blame you at all for assuming this MMO is going to have the same fate as the others, thats perfectly reasonable and I'd be worried if somebody didn't think like that. I certainly did before I started doing some homework on what GW2 was doing. I think it was the GDC '10 video that convinced me that these guys actually know what they are doing. Just please don't swat away proper reasoning and information because you enjoy playing devil's advocate.

I mean I have a 32 GB that has my OS installed on it and some other random system utilities and I have a 500 GB that's not a SSD that I install everything else on. When the scan utility scans my PC it only picks up my "C" drive which is the small SSD that has 1 GB open. Not nearly enough space to install a game on.. worries me a little for my chances.

It doesn't really matter if GW2 generates complains or not to be honest. What I'm saying is that most playes who have been hunting for a new mmo are going to try this one, and put it behind one or two months later like they did before, wondering why no one can recreate the nostalgia of their first love. That's what I'm looking forward.

It'd really suck for you, though, if people genuinely found the game interesting and worth a long term time investment that you don't see. But this isn't about you being a hypocrite but us looking like the lemmings walking off the ledge of disappointment so you can get your jolly. Everything makes perfect sense now.

It's like he's taking it personally. He seems to be blaming ArenaNet and the game for "misleading" people that it'll revive their nostalgic memories with previous titles like DAoC, WoW pre-expansion, XI etc... Sorry, but if those same people can't realize that nothing ever will replace that nostalgia, that's on them and them alone. Most GW2 players/fans I converse with realize that yes, GW2 is the same but with different flavoring.

And there's no reason to be annoyed by other peoples enthusiasm. It's not a topic for debate when it becomes personal.

I wouldn't worry Zzsark, I'm in the same boat as you with it detecting my SSD and I'm sure they are already getting a ton of emails from people paranoid that it will hurt their chances. I think they are savvy enough to know that a lot of us run our OS on ssd and that it was only detecting that.

GW2 is going to be epic; the only people who may be worried about it "getting boring after 3 months" are the gaijin who play 10hrs a day. FFXI contributed alot to the e-penis wars and selfish aspects of my history of MMO gaming distaste. I'll be happy to see it die in favor of an achievement system that can't be bought/botted/held like some digital version of princes and paupers in real life

1500 quests that are fun, doesn't sound feasible? They could have 150 blueprints that only vary in nouns and I could give a shit less. That's still alot of fun due to the completely ORIGINAL take on going about those quests. Even a "fetch quest" would be a different experience in GW2. Life is the same way - lots of repetive shit, repackaged or looked at in a different POV.

Plus, you're leaving out the obvious talent of this games graphical designers, that goes a long way in keeping things fresh. The old MMO formula is done after this game launches, whatever Blizzard has planned for WoW2 is going to be based on alot of what these guys have accomplished.

What's that, I won't get raped by sub fees and I don't need to buy EXP+300% items to level "normally"? How come this game doesn't cost $120?

There was post like this in every other thread. People making these games aren't completely dumb, and they will usually raise good point (except Tanaka). They're also great vendor that can generate a lot of hype, and that's exactly why you see this.

You can accuse me of not doing my homework, I'm going to accuse you of not understanding the MMO community. What look like a "huge change" to you right now isn't going to matter as much as you seem to think to that mass of people who have been looking for a new place to hang out.

And to clarify, the rage come from my endgame experience with people believing that the grass is always greener in the "not yet released" mmo. It's incredibly annoying to have any kind of stability right now when every 3 months, a good chunk of the population leave to search for a new love.

So you're just blaming GW2 and ArenaNet for maketing GW2 as such?

I don't get you man. There's no real reason to rain on peoples parade. Let them figure it out in due time. You say it's debate, but it's far from it. It's opinion, and it clashes with others. Let them enjoy it, let them rage quit, let them do whatever they want with it. It effects you in no way.

Now, back to the topic at hand about discussing the game itself.

ArenaNets site is updated with the beta FAQs. One of the questions were if the beta sessions were 24hours. Answer was the typical "we'll let you know etc..." Hope it is. I'm never home during prime time

I've never said it would. I've actually criticized quite a few things about this game, but I've done so in a manner that actually makes sense. Your stance doesn't even make sense. Multiple sports have been around for literally 3+ thousand years. People still enjoy watching and participating them. You seem to be the one that's looking for the next MMO Jesus. Everyone else is just excited about a new game that is probably going to be more enjoyable then the previous MMO they played for however long they feel like playing.

So how f'ed am I that when it scans my computer it only sees my SSD drive that my OS is on that has like 1GB open space? lol

They specifically said on Twitter today, that it will only show certain information in the scanner app, but it will send ALL information about your system when you hit the send button.

ie, my scan only showed that i had 1 gpu, like 80gigs of space on my windows ssd, my processor and my ram, but they say it sends information on your full rig. So it would see my second gpu, my gaming hdd, etc. as well.

Man... I was just playing Rift since it's free until level 20... And I found a dynamic event... It just made me want GW2 even more. That was awesome.

Yeah, don't worry about the spec scan guys. It does upload all the hardware components, it just shows the first ones that come up.
