Zero posted this a few pages back too, showing how much versatility runes can add to armors too, not counting base stats.

In one of the crafting vids you could see A low level Mighty helm of blah blah being created giving like +7 might on the helm. Also there are upgrade slots which I think are different to rune sets. They really added much more versatility
Someone on Guru was trying to troll me because I have a Jim-Halpertified My Little Pony avatar. I PM'd him a message about friendship and magic and he is being such a tough guy. I might have to post the transcripts here because it is ridiculous. XD
Do eet.
Seconded.
It's still going. Lol! I will wait till the conclusion and share it in one nice neat post.
This! ^, Any rare skin gear will most likely be Token or karma based. Defeating a large boss does drop a chest from what I have seen with crests that can be added to any gear in game. Also if its anything like GW1 also, epic events if successful can unlock a crafter npc that allows you to purchase rare/unique gear with karma, or something like that. Rare type armor have been so far something that we actually have control over how we obtain them. Not a chance drop ever.
Don't get me wrong there is nice gear to work towards, just nothing stat wise, It wont be "better" than any generic max stat gear you can find/craft/buy. It will just look pretty awesome.
Doesn't mean those tokens are easy to get. See Obsidian Armor in GW1. It's a major bitch to get.
Apparently, you get one kind of token (weapons maybe) for completing "story mode," and another kind (armor; the other one, either way) for completing "challenge mode." Whatever that actually means.
yup to trade in tokens for dungeon specific skins, and no of course they wont be easy to get, never said they would be! lol, but at least its 100% obtainable for finishing it, so you are guaranteed progress, on finishing your set. I do have the full obsidian mesmer set, yup I know its a bitch to get. I did love the fact that you needed to basically do a series of quests inside dungeon to unlock the crafter even though you already had the materials. Some of the most fun I had in GW1, FOW and Underworld lol
Story mode is just the basic dungeon, the first time you do it. You unlock the challenge or explorable mode after you beat story mode and is much harder with multiple branches and different goals.
Campaign weapons were never really any good come end of game in GW1. Maybe that'll change.
There was actually a video I watched that said something about orbs you can get from minigames that allow you to take the stats of one armor, and apply it to the looks of another armor so I kinda figure different stats had a part in this. If they were all the same, then why would someone need to do that?
They are not all the same like I said, its like this, you can have a very wide variety of stats, that you do have some control over. What is the same is at max level all stats of a certain type like crit, might etc all have the same max values so there is no grind for that +1 extra crit. I can craft buy armor with max stats easily, but there might be a certain skin that you like that you do not have the stats you want on at the moment. The transumation stones are basically there for you to mix and match your favorite stat combination to the look you like best.
For example you really like this level 1 armor skin that you can only get at low level, you will not be able to get max high level stats on that gear in game by normal means, like from npcs crafting etc. this is where transmutation stones come in![]()
Ok, so basically all of the gear caps out at the same. But some things just start off at a better base than others? Argh, I want to get my hands on this game already.
Its not totally the same as GW1 Eanae
look at these 2 sets of armor both heavy the base stats are different one has precision one has vit, I think you are mixing people up by what you mean as 100% equal lol, if you mean the same stat armor are 100% equal yes but GW2 has much more variety in armor this time. Unless you mean base defense which is the only thing for certain is the same. Then there are prefix and suffix that changes the basic stats but these are crafted that way.
yes i know they are not the same level
Also the crafting is pretty similar to amalur. Also if all gear was 100% the same what sense would crafting make =/ , it would be pretty boring. there really wasnt crafting in GW1, so it made sense.

I'm not talking about extreme grinding, just hard to obtain gear from dungeons. Gear with nice stats that takes actual skill to obtain, not just farming gold then buying from an NPC. I did notice in one of the Yogcast videos they didn't get anything good out of the chest and one of the devs said it's a roll of the dice if you get something good. That's not the kind of difficulty I am referring to. I am all for 100% drop rates.
From that screen you posted Taki, that is what I'm referring to sorta, except it would be cool if you could get that extra +1,2,3, of X stat etc on gear from obtaining it from a difficult dungeon. I know that probably isn't going to be the case, but seeing increased magic find on that example rune does have me curious as to what randomized stats gear can have that drops. What is magic find going to even do? Maybe increase the chance of getting a special rare armor out of a chest. I dunno, but either way it will be better than GW1. The gear was the one thing on GW1 that made me sad, so little customization. You pretty much had your one or two builds for your playstyle.
