I still wish the hearts were never implemented but i suppose most players wouldn't bother exploring without them, which is sad.

I think it's nice to have the hearts to encourage people to go to various ends of the map. But I don't think they need to be repeatable. I'm looking forward to those higher level areas where it's twice the dynamic events and no hearts. :D
Tree fiddy days to go
Damn you guys.. wasn't even interested but popped in here while bored at work now ordering digital deluxe when i get off.
IGN put up a new vid
[link deleted]
I hate IGN...
If ever I wanted to e-punch someone it would be while watching that video.
I hope they optimize the "ice skating" feel of movement by final release, it brings back memories of playing the first Alice game on PC...
I personally do not think its bad as people complain about, it never bothered me at all. They even addressed it in an interview one time, saying there has to be some leeway between smooth animation, fast reactions, and connection speed, especially in a PVP environment. Smoother animations means having more defined start and stops, inertia frames and slower turning giving a more realistic look. Faster and quicker response time for skill use turning etc means less animation keys etc, which leads to less realistic looking animations. They also admitted to having smoother animations before but reaction time felt slow and clunky and they ended up changing it.
Its pretty tricky to balance it right. Imagine playing FF14 style animations in a guild wars 2 pvp match. . .just wont work. I do hope it looks better this weekend though.
I started reading that "Ghosts of Ascalon" ebook... it's not a terrible waste of $3.99 if you're looking to kill some time between now and launch. Some of the backstory is interesting to read and leads right into the world events of GW2 supposedly, although the characters' behaviors are stereotypical of their given race to an almost retarded level. The saving grace of the book is that it's set in the guild wars world, which essentially means, what? Shitty fan-fiction? Idk. I thought briefly about recommending it but something is holding me back. It got very good reviews though.
We're still allowed to call them out on it because its still not natural. There's a lot of sliding that goes on, and, no matter what their reasoning, it looks silly when exploited. They don't have to change it, but people don't have to stop giving them grief over it, either.
It just feels odd as TERA's combat is kind of similar, but it doesn't have quite as much sliding and clipping as I've seen in recent videos of GW2. I'm sure they'll make it less obvious by launch, but the controls seem sorta old-gen PC quality, in contrast to the backdrop of a modern next-gen engine.
It's true, TERA's animations are more fluent, yet it probably combat that is even more dynamic than GW

2 BWEs and a stress test in and I still don't know about the sliding existing at all until the test ends and people come out bitching about it. Not fanboying here, I just don't notice it when I'm playing. It just isn't a thing at all for me.
Animations are like the least important thing about video games.
