Nah, it's the armor sets the heart vendors sell. Not all of the zones currently have unique sets, but I believe most of them will (at least starting at level 15-25) upon release!

That's exactly why I wanted to do it, as I've seen enough of the storylines to know that I like them, but I didn't get a chance to this weekend. S'alright through, because that just leaves me with more excitement for launch. What I do want to do, however, is work with that mystic forge stuff so that I know how it works come launch.
debating if i wanna skip this or not. I feel like i should be there.Join us for the final event of this Beta-weekend! Gather in Metrica Province (asura starting area) at 23:00 PDT, 8 hours from now. ~RB2 #GW2
I'm there, but I only see the weapons, armor and trinket sellers. I'll keep looking.
NVM: Found it, but THAT IS NOT A FORGE. THAT IS A WELLSPRING OF ARCANE POWER.
Finally went and previewed all the dungeon armor..... How am I supposed to pick one skin I like best... I like them all pretty much.
And that is why ArenaNet will make a killing on transmutation stones.
To be fair, you can get quite a few from doing zone completion, so it's not awful! I'm interested in how the gem - gold market will look at release
Right now the exchange rate for gold to gems is ridiculous due, also many people including myself not being able to purchase gems (known bug) isnt helping, so the supply is pretty low hence the gold cost is high.
Are people seriously spending RL bucks on a beta?
Man, if I was the devs, I'd be crying with joy right now.
What do the gems do exactly? Just stat things or something more?
They are, effectively, cash shop currency. They just have an exchange rate built into the game for in-game currency, so you don't have to spend actual dollars/euros/bacon.
Only played a few hours of this beta to try out the Sylvari and the yoda race. Tried some other classes out, but am still dead-set on making a ranger come retail....though cant decide between Human or Sylvari
My friends and I just cleared Catacombs story mode and it's definitely a lot more tuned this time around. There were only 1-2 problematic pulls (The one in the beginning with an ele, monk and warrior mobs and the 3x ranger pull), but other than that everything went down nice and smooth.
Edit: I should add, all of us except for 2 people had done it before, so we knew the fight mechanics. Total clear was about 30-45 minutes.
did some spvp with an engineer. holy shit. I thought I was set with guardian and warrior but nope. That class is awesome
Ok, so in this BWE I first created a Sylvari Necro. Sadly I stopped at level 5 because I didn't really enjoy both the race and even the class (which surprised me because I was stoked about necro before, maybe if I got more weapons and skills...).
Then I created an Asura Elementalist and took it to lv 19 to had a ton of fun. After than I made an Human Thief before the beta ended and go it to like lv 8 completing the lv10 story mission. The class itself was ok I guess, and the race was fine too. I'm not sure what I want to play now :< Humans have the advantage of normal size where equipment looks good on it, Asura are small so its worse, and after so many years of playing a Taru I dunno if I wanna bother with that again... Then, their cultural armors are pretty great. And the story itself was really cool and I liked Rata Sum so much! Decisions decisions D:
