World PVP was always just once a week only and 3 servers at a time? :3

Also, Jon Peters said they wanted people to start focusing on PVE aspects of game as well in the last interview by buffed, but I didn't hear anything about dropping focus on PVP.

They've talked a lot about it already, but haven't actually shown anything yet other than PvE gameplay.

Going by what they've said, you've got 2 kinds of PvP.

Structured PvP: Everyone is on an equal footing; same level, full skill unlocks etc. There will be tournament & pickup modes. Features your typical GvG.

World PvP: More casual PvP with siege castles etc. Supposedly a lot like DAOC (Dark Age of Camelot). You go in with your own equip, level etc. Can be unbalanced 10 vs 100 players etc. Supposedly it lasts for one week.

    I'll just quote Wiki:
Every week three worlds are matched against each other. The match ups favors matching worlds of similar strength or ranking. A world's rank increases as they win more often.[1] During combat there is no direct way for these worlds to communicate with each other.[2]

Currently there are 4 different battlefields one of which is picked when the world are matched up.[2] Each map is described as huge and features many objectives and roles for players of different levels to participate in; "players may decide to fight alone against a supply caravan, join a single group and capture a mine or create a large alliance to assault one of the numerous fortress that could give an advantage in the zone."

Each world starts out with castles, mercenary camps, mines, lumber mills and villages. Separating the starting zones are neutral zones controlled by no one, also containing fortresses, mines, and villages. The resources gained from mines and lumber mills are used to rebuild walls, create siege engines, and generally defend the team's fortress.

Guilds will be able to take and hold keeps.[3]

Of course, while it sounds good in theory, this all doesn't mean shit until people actually get to try it out.

^Correct. Everything always sounds fantastic on paper. GW2 will prolly be staying on my radar though. It looks mediocre still, which is not bad considering the shit that's out there now.

what about it looks mediocre? really? given the fact that there is no subscription plus the artistic direction blows anything out of the water that is out there and upcoming. and that includes TERA cus even though it looks great and plays great its still looks like the typical korean MMO in design, which I am not saying is bad. but its been done.

I had a feeling that an off-topic instigation by the great Celeras was in place, so I gave him hope for just a minute there.

Now, I won't bring up any game for comparison. Usually, people do that before me anyway, as you did. The graphics are fine. I have absolutely nothing negative to say about them. I still think games like Aion and FFXI look fantastic, so that's not too important to me, and I can promise you I don't play TERA strictly for it's graphics. Same applies to the no sub fee, seeing as I actually go out of my way to pay an overpriced sub fee for TERA, as opposed to playing something for free, like XIV or GW. Although many people are mainly attracted to this no sub fee thing, I am not, as I don't mind paying 13 dollars a month for a video game, if it's worth it.

What the game is currently offering, as far as cross server PVP being restricted to once a week, with a max of 3 servers at a time, FFA and 2V1 seems insufficient to me. I am in love with the fact that it offers all this for "free", but it's personal opinion here, and it's not at the top of my radar. It's cool that's it's free and all, but I'm expecting more out of my games.

Nothing wrong with the game though. For what it is, like I said, it's shaping out to be just fine, in comparison to the other shit out there. Let's try to keep this strictly GW2 talk BTW, no need to try and start something, girl.

cross server pvp is not once per week, its actually, matches 3 servers once per week, the pvp in the mists goes on alll the time and u can level to 80 just by that only. That info u have is not correct, this, plus organized competitive pvp (group vs group) is more than enough. You are actually basing ur view off of incorrect data. I myself am looking foward to tera, but honestly if u do ur research there is nothing mediocre about what gw2 is bringing.

Things like players being able to hit cap strictly off PVPing, which is less than important to me, things like server invasions, teaming up with other servers to invade other servers, etc should be be nothing new by the time this comes out. I mean, that was my opinion on it, of course. What makes you all excited doesn't necessarily have to float my boat.

    :3

e: Saw your edit. I doubt any of my info is incorrect, as there isn't much on the game in the first place, but I guess I can agree with that. Touche.

Tbh im not a pvper lol even in the first guildwars. What has me excited is not pvp at all but everything else. I think what is great is the fact that they are actually showing their concepts in action and not just on paper and trying to create an mmo that does away with all the complaints and grief and drama we had put up with in ffxi ffxiv wow etc. I guess to me it just feels like a game made by gamers.

There is tons of info on gw2 just not here. The devs also actually post answers and clarifications on a major fan site guildwarsguru. Just not on pvp wich isn't ready. I dunno how one can say that there is hardly info with a fully playable online demo at pax etc which already had more content and working gameplay than say ffxiv and its not even in beta. Just sayin

The biggest reason why I'm leaning more towards GW2 at this point(besides all fresh gameplay ideas) is because I've heard TERA's storyline was weak and the potential for an awesome engaging lore/storyline experience in GW2 has me excited.

I'm willing to eat my words if anyone thinks TERA's story has potential to evolve into some epic COP-style shit, come NA release.

GW2 looks mediocre? More like it looks like GW2 will raise the bar for all future MMORPGs. AW YA.

I don't think Tera's story atm is COP calibure, but neither was FFXI with the release story of the Shadowlord. Of course FFXI was a product of SE which is known for great stories in their games. I like to think that with all the other great things Tera has going for it, we'll see stronger/new etc story further down the road with more content or expansions etc.

Anyway, I think GW2 has a unique corner on the MMO market simply because it will be Buy to play. Anyone who is intersted in it has no reason not to pick it up and play it alongside another P2P mmo, whatever that choice may be (unless of couse money is an issue).

The actual story now isn't too bad, but if anyone who liked XI wants to compare, TERA falls waaaaaaaaaaay too short. As amazing as the Destruction patch notes look, as far as campaign goes, it's gonna be pretty hard to top COP or even RoZ IMO. This applies to like, every game I have played after XI though.

    e: Oh didn't see the evolve into part lol. I think sure, seeing as how the Destruction campaign already looks pretty amazing if you try and read any lore from inven on it. The problem here is that as much as we like the cut scenes, we're usually like wow that's a cool axe, or wow cool dragon etc, as in we can't really read shit so we only have a slight general idea of what it is;;;

guild wars 2 has 250 years of history from guild wars 1 and 2 novels already with a 3rd inc, lots of lore and story that is already pretty epic, before the game is even released.
