Will the official forums open up during the stress test? Would like to make a suggestion to add to the game. Unless I'm wrong and don't know how to do it, I would love a preview item function on the AH.
And they'd be wrong. In it's current form, thief is at the bottom of the balance barrel. This isn't even opinion, they're a liability in tournament PVP. I play one to it's fullest potential and am fully aware of their potential compared to other professions in this one facet of the game. The main problem is initiative is going to be impossible to balance. Either it's OP or UP.
I'm still planning on maining one as i love the play style and i have full confidence in Anet's balancing, but it's painful right now. PVE and regular sPvP is hella fun though.
The official forums do open for the stress test but in a limited function and unfortunately they do not allow for suggestions etc.
Also respectfully Alderaan, the very fact that you are saying you play thief to its fullest potential with just days worth of play time in an unreleased game, makes me laugh.
Yep.
respectfully, of course
Well, Anet themselves said that Thief and Necro need the most love right now. So all I can really say is, we'll see how they are at launch. But as they are right now, aside from maybe one spec on each of them, they're not as viable as other professions on a competitive level.
It's all good mate.
This all i was saying. Thief for life though!Well, Anet themselves said that Thief and Necro need the most love right now. So all I can really say is, we'll see how they are at launch. But as they are right now, aside from maybe one spec on each of them, they're not as viable as other professions on a competitive level.
I really enjoy thief, it's quite a lot of fun to just jump all over the place (and shortbow is quite useful) but I don't think I've ever actually used Steal after the first time.
Necro for life.
"Shitty" classes represent.
Steal has so much potential and is very much underrated due to the random nature of it compared to every other profession's class mechanic. I think the recast on steal needs to be reduced and have much more of an affect on an opposing player. the most recent trait changes did have some interesting bonuses tied to steal though
You are far too certain for only having played a pre-release game for, at most, 240.2 hours... and that's excluding sleeping, eating or taking a bathroom break while including all of the conference demos.
If it can be either "OP or UP," it can be somewhere in-between. That is, of course, the definition of 'balancing.'
It's good that you haven't given up on it, but be careful not to discourage others from playing a profession because you felt your contribution was less than exceptional, or because someone incorrectly told you it wasn't. Thieves do very well holding points, spiking opponents for a fast kill or staying away from their opponents and distracting them from capturing points (something they're very good at having been given a number of teleport and mobility skills) depending on their traits and weapon choices, as well as their actual actions. Very important point here: Not everything will depend on your profession or its build in this game. Much of your success will be derived from actions you take and choices you make.
Largely unrelated to the last paragraph, a disclaimer: a friend of mine played a thief in BWE1 to about level 26-30, if I recall correctly. He didn't play any PvP, but he had no complaints about PvE. In fact, he told me more than once, toward the end of BWE1, how much he was enjoying the number and frequency of cripples at his disposal ('Uncatchable', for example). This is the only personal (by proxy) experience I have with the profession. The rest of my experience comes from watching as many unedited videos of each profession as I was able to get my hands on since 2009.
Know your limitations, know what you're good at and either compensate for your weaknesses or bolster your strengths. RL or GW2. ;p
...an afterthought, which server will "IGC" select?
A thief with gear on par with his level will have no problem in PvE
Don't believe we'll know until we find out where the 2 big alliances are going. We're trying to avoid going there and would prefer to forge our own identity. Personally, i think these huge alliances are bad for the game but i can't blame players for wanting to assure wins with numbers.
Apparently there is another stress test today from 4-8 PST
I'm... not sure which two big alliances you're referring to... if it's BG, my efforts to get a lot of people together aren't to win in WvWvW, but to have fun in WvWvW. Winning makes WvWvW more fun, but it isn't necessary. Same goal, different motivations. Perspective! lol.
I assume you are talking about Team Legacy's alliance as one of the "two" big alliances, what is the other?
Is that one of those 10k+ large groups butthurt that Guild size caps at 500 thus restricting them from playing with freinds?
