So much tear jerking and rage from the item ArenaNet will hand out to Gamescom attendees.

GMG has a client like steam where you download games bought by them. Doesn't really matter since I already downloaded the client via the GW2wiki links.
Only reason I bought from them was because the official site gave me the retarded invalid credit card error so I can't buy from them =/
Yeah, I did read the part about not having enough keys =( unfortunately this still boils down the case where I can't buy from the official site.
Anyways, regardless, assuming that since GMG is one of the authorized digital retailers, they will have the keys on the 28th, I'm fine. I suppose 12$ for 3 days is fair enough.
Good news everyone, GW2 may open 3 hours early! Also, you may spend up to 3 more hours trying to reserve character names!

It seems like more and more game developers behaving more and more like ArenaNet in terms of transparency and 'getting a little more personal' with fans/players. BioWare, Trion, Bethesda, EA... they're just not pulling it off as well... and I hate it when you can tell they're faking enthusiasm, but what really gets me is that fans of these other brands have no idea why their favorite developer is being more 'open door.'
To be fair, I don't expect my video game programmers to be charismatics individuals that look like naturals in front of a camera. Yeah, awkward hype is one thing, and even GW2 has some of that going on with a mix of fanboys trying to depict stuff that's been in the genre as new. However, I wouldn't pin this "surge" solely on Anet, but rather a growing fixation with "how it's made" type stuff with movie extras and television programs devoted more to that. I think it's something that would've happened regardless, and definitely needed to, if for any reason to spite SE's xenophobic stubbornness. And if it helps them make their buck, all the more reason to.
It's one thing when a GD is vested in their project, and the Publisher allows them the means to do that, vs a Publisher, who just wants the GD to get their product out the door. ArenaNet/NCSOFT have come off as genuinely invested in their product, and it shows in how they present the game as well as the Beta Events they've had in the game. More GD/Publisher relationships should be like this.
Genuine enthusiasm only goes so far. Mythic's Paul Barnett was so hyped up about WAR you could almost feel his giddiness through the internet. They were pretty open door as well, constantly giving out podcasts about different aspects of the game during it's development.
Sadly their game sucked, but the enthusiasm Mythic showed on camera was totally real and it was pretty infectious.
The problem with Mythic's giddiness is that most of it came in the early days when the game was a much larger, much more interesting endeavor than what we saw at release. If Warhammer had been what they planned and what they said that it was going to be, then the game would have actually stood a chance. Unfortunately, cash flow and publisher demands saw the game released as a fraction of what was promised. That is not what I see with GW2. Sure, there have been some tweaks to their formula in order to get the game out the door, but the game as a whole seems to be what we were promised. If it actually is, we will only know when we start to experience levels 35+ and see how the live team treats the game going forward. I have real concerns about the game's prospects for longevity, but I have faith that Arena.net will answer them with grace and speed.
I'm not making a comparison. Just saying that sometimes genuine love of the game from the developers simply isn't enough to make a game any good.
nvm... they added new sylvari colors w/ swapped everyone's color... sylvari now has like 5 pages of pallette's
Is the stress test down, or did they weed out all beta key people? Was able to play in the last stress tests but now I'm bouncing between "No even or not authorized" and "Failed to connect" errorsI NEED MY FIX
This test is only for people that pre-purchased the game afaik.
They really are having a hard time with sylvari... My glow is right but now I'm magenta and partially see-though like a ghost...
They also added a bunch of new ranger utilities that focus on the pet doing something specific. Kinda neat!
