Engineer vid:
Nice, I love the fact that they show different faces, characters walking, which was not possible in the first gw, textures actually seems improved a bit also. and the last skill absorb, the shield actually opened up to absorbed the fire ball, looked awesome.
Game has so much potential.
Reading alot of hate for the engineer. lol I like the fact that its opening up the game to people that never played mmos.
What's NEXT?? HEALING ROCKETS? ERm..oh wait..uhh
Healing rockets are fine in this game; there's no established lore to fiddle with to make it work, really (seriously, why the fuck weren't healing rockets in the movies? Some badass merc coulda swooped in during Order #66 and healing rocketed all the jedi, like a boss). BACTA ROCKETS, AWAY~!!!
Mind. Is Blown.
Even FPS Doug would play this fuckin game now lol
Informative interview about the Engineer.

oh man, the rats having their little conversation--just made the entire video for me.
I don'd know if the rest of you have settled yet, but my first (and main) character is 100% Norn Mesmer who acts with dignity and favors Wolf (GW2 is making me into a lore nerd, gawdhelpus).
Someone's finally put together a playlist of Eye of the North cutscenes on YouTube. Here's a link...
Spoiler: show
Do NOT watch them if you plan to play through the game and want to experience it all first-hand, obviously.
Unfortunately they're not recorded in a high or even wide-screen resolution, but it's the most complete set I've yet to see on YouTube.
Some of these may help the rest of you who haven't played Guild Wars 1 decide on which race you want to play.![]()
Oh, and this.... this...
...is the kind of silliness you can expect during the Guild Wars 2 open beta in the second half of this year.
This is how ArenaNet ended the open beta for Guild Wars 1... with hundreds of evil, Firestorm-spamming
10 year old girls that wrought destruction on the server.
So naturally, there was only one thing left to do:
Dance.
I can't be the only one who isn't amazed by these GW2 videos. Especially the engineer video...nothing seems that great. In fact it looks woefully boring.
It's OK that you don't understand. *pats head*
...anyway, what's amazing isn't so much the videos as...
· the hand-painted environments/non-repeating textures; when's the last time we saw this? Quest for Glory IV, I think? First time in 1080P+. I can't wait.
· the company behind the game being in constant direct contact with the player community (first-hand experience with this),
· the amount of work going into a subscriptionless MMO (almost 5 years in development and counting),
· the mechanics/play style as detailed in numerous interviews (go read some), the "dynamic events" system looks like it'll actually be done right,
· the fact that the game has graphics like these and yet can still be run on ancient hardware (and will likely be an easy WINE configuration),
· and if you ask me, the more impressive skill videos are the oldest ones; Elementalist, Warrior, Ranger, Necromancer, Guardian and Thief
are all more impressive than the Engineer videos as far as I'm concerned.
So I guess I'm probably not the only one who thinks they kinda didn't set out to impress anyone with those Engineer skills videos.
Either that or it's going to be a very niche profession (there weren't very many ritualists in GW1, either).
*shrugs*
edit: Here, have (48 minutes of concept art) set to a Jeremy Soule soundtrack. Yes, there is that much of it.
I don't think the class vids really do the game any justice unless you can objectively look at them in the context of the entire game. Personally, i'm in awe of the game world and art style.
Man I had just 2 characters at level 20 in the original gw my main a mesmer and a warrior, but this game is gonna make me have so many alts its not funny, cus I am not the alt playing type. the combinations of classes and races is crazy
The much more exciting GW2 video for me was then they did the 1 hour from beginning of game demo at that German game convention a couple months ago. They showed how dynamic the game world is and the combat looks awesome.
