Fuck, I want GW2. It's going to blow SWOTR out of the water for me.
As much as I'm looking forward to SWTOR, I think I have to agree. From a gameplay standpoint, GW2 is looking amazing. It reminds me a lot like Warhammer where you can level up strictly from just wandering around doing open world stuff rather than following an on rails quest grind system like WoW and Rift.
Granted, you could follow the quest path in Warhammer if you wanted, but you weren't limited to that as you could level up reliably doing open world RvR/scenarios and open world public quests. It provided a very accessible multiplayer experience what with the open warbands and public quests. I think GW2 will provide a similar experience, albeit a more polished and fun experience.
Anyone know if there's some live feed to the GW2 show at comicon coming up later today?

played the game at comic con and went to the panel.
Gem was a lot of fun, I only got a small test of the dynamic content but every event is supposed to be individually scripted (they said over 1500 events so far are unique) and you wont see anything like Rift where ist the same shit over and over and over again. Not all events are just killed X, in fact you will never see that type of stuff in events, it's to defend or do XYZ task. It was cool how a npc cam up to me and said they needed help on the shore from pirates, so I followed the npc as it talked to me the entire time omw to help me kill em.
One cool thing about events (i thought) is that there is no reset point. the event will never reset until completed. So if the event mobs are winning and conquer the last objective. they will stay there and nothing before em will be rebuilt (or w/e you want to term it) that they previously destroyed until ppl come and kill em.. be it 6months or w/e.
Im sure this is old news, but I thought the weapon system was done well. You don't get massive amounts of action bars like I'm used to.. 1-5 is weapon abilities and 6-0 is class abilities. So by switching a weapon your 1-5 abilities change on the fly. You can set different abilties to these keys, but you cant swap in combat. So it gives somewhat of a strategic forethought. I got to try out staff, swords, polearms, tridents. Another thing I liked is that you can right click an ability to have it auto cast. So like you dont have to always press 1 or w/e, you can set keys to go off when the CD is up
Agro in the game is very simple: Mobs always atk the person closest to them. So you swap tanks by rotating ppl in and out.
I kinda liked how when your killed, you have a chance before death to get up by killing the person using a few special moves. Since everyone has rez it makes things kinda simple since you can do in combat.
Dungeons all have a soft cap, so if a 80 goes into a 35 dungeon, their stats will be downleved to only a few levels above the instance.
Also, like if an elementalist puts up a fire wall and a hunter shoots arrows through the wall, it turns into fire arrows. There is tons of class synergy through everything.
Server v Server v Server PvP will be hundreds of hundreds of ppl in open world combat that will last two weeks or longer. It's supposed to be an ongoing event that the entire servers gets in on and helps. And you can lv from 1-80 in PvP if you wanted to
