It just feels more like a platform game with RPG components or something. I don't know what I'm trying to say. Maybe because there isn't a giant UI or something that makes me think that way.

Funny enough, one of the complaints that long-time GW1 players seem to have is that Arenanet doesn't play their own game (when whining about balance changes/etc). example
Personally, I've been enjoying GW1 just playing through the campaigns. It's not perfect, but the apparent mentality behind it has got me excited for GW2. Much less concerned with hooking players for years, and a lot more with making sure they have fun for however long they play.
Jeremy Soule does have some substantial credentials, so I expect great things.Sounds like the game will have an amazing OST.
My guess is that you're looking at it that way due to the speed. Combat in GW is very fast, but that's part of the point - it's intended to be skill oriented as opposed to stat oriented. Instead of, say, having a silence spell that can last for minutes, GW1 would require you to time interrupt skills to lock down the caster - with other bonuses like damage or energy recovery if you did.It just feels more like a platform game with RPG components or something. Is the game going to have PvP battleground or open world PvP?
There is a battle ground called the mists that puts 3 servers against each other over the course of 2 weeks, where you will have dynamic events playing out also like taking of forts supply runs etc. this in the end affects the servers in question by giving xp bonuses, drop rate bonuses etc. you can level fully from 1-80 here if you like.
Then there is the ESL type PVP structured tournament type where its 5 vs 5. this one also allows for hot joining matches, kinda similar to how FPS matches are done. Link for much more detail

Damn, that's some good stuff. Thanks for the info.
Yeah, if anything GW2 looks like it's one of the few MMOs coming out that's actually putting emphasis on the MMO part. All the massive group content you would want from an MMO without the hassle.
It's almost time for Sylvari week to begin! http://smiliesftw.com/x/noesaway.gif

Guess I'll play human lol...
Good example of over-designing IMO
Hmm. Not really feeling that design. But interesting none-the-less!
Well, not exactly up my alley, but I don't think they're too bad.
I hope this is true. If I can make mine closer to human than shown here, I'll probably be happy with it.Ideally, the sylvari race will always have a wide range of beauty types, from nearly human to lovely creature
Interesting to read her thought process...but what I sort of wonder is why they'd be trying to hard to make them human-ish in the first place. Maybe it'll be part of the plot. Given the stated origins they could be taking those forms due to the tree being planted on an old human village/graveyard. Otherwise there's really little reason to make them look anything like humans - particularly with all the mention she gave towards not wanting to basically do a skin-deep treatment to human characters.
Well, I think they were supposed to be a cross between elves and ents.
I definitely prefer this design over how fern gully they felt before but I wouldn't play them either way. I guess what I really wanted is a more traditional elf type race.
Well the designs have definitely grown on me since the release of blog. It's definitely interesting to follow her train of thought in the design process. I think it's fantastic that the Sylvari have seasonal skins. Still undecided as to what my first character is going to be though.
