Changing weapons changes your first 5 skills, so it does change your abilities. So it can change your role. some classes do not have that ability like elementalist, but they can swap attunements on the fly from fire water air and earth, giving totally different skills for the first 5 slots for each. water has more support healing while earth gives more defensive tanky options. so you can basically pair up a weapon set that has more supporty type ability with one that gives more dps and swap back and forth at will. this coupled with ur second half skill bar thats basically for support healing etc. makes changing roles on the fly possible.
Even a class like thf can swap from melee into range by swapping from dual daggers to dual pistols. different abilities totally. depening on what is on ur second half can greatly change ur playstyle/ role
Oh sorry, I thought you were talking about the being able to change the 6-10 keys on the fly. Yeah you can change weapons on the fly
some nice ele gameplay from gamescom
What level were you in the demo? I'm curious because it looks like the guy has over 8k health. Assuming the demo from Gamescom was used at PAX too?
In the demo if you picked human norn or charr it would put you in the starter area, but if you picked asura or sylvari you would be around 57, the dragon boss was a level 60 ish boss. yes hp gets really high. In that video you can see he is around 58 if you look at the xp bar underneath. If you look at the pvp vids which puts you at level 80 a warrior that has the most hp of all the professions has over 20k hp, but I am sure also all gear is maxed also
Bah, it doesn't really matter but I always hate when they start HIGH with the numbers. I'm very fond of FFXI's way of handling HP and MP where it isn't in the 10's of thousands or whatever. If the numbers start high, when they add expansions and more levels, you'll be in the 50's of thousands on up to 6 figures etc. Again, I know it doesn't matter and it's all 100% either way just me being nitpicky.
I want huge numbers because huge is the size of my penis.
I want huge numbers and i have a tiny penis.
I'm not really a mage sort of person but that elementalist vid looks like so much fun.
some nice write ups from boon control that got alot of hands on of the game prepping for pvp vs the devs at gamescom.

Just came across this:
During an Interview at PAX Prime 2011, our staff got Colin Johanson and Eric Flannum to spill a few details on the PVP system in Guild Wars 2. Not only will ArenaNet be making up their own servers for the quick and dirty PVP matches, much like the shooter genre's setup, but Eric and Colin said they plan for players to be able to create and host their own servers or games with specific rule-sets as well.
I've picked up gw and have been playing tons in the last week. Going to go for 30/50 title and 50/50 hom I think. I wanna get the rewards for gw2. If anyone is interested it could be nice having a hm and vanquishing buddy. Whenever I get power back of course. :/
Nice.
How do you mean 30/50 title and 50/50 hom? If you just want the rewards you only need 30/50 in HoM. It's relatively easy to get, though gets progressively harder after each point you add (meaning more time spent to get a point). The rest of the points, above 30, are just vanity titles not items.
If you need some help with anything just ask, but I'm in GMT+2 timezone.
The 30/50 titles max title transfers over to gw2. The god walking amongst mere mortals or whatever it's called.
Oh you mean GWAMM. Pretty sure that's not 30/50 though, I don't think there are 50 titles to choose from.
It's awesome to see you put some goals, just don't underestimate the time you need to put in to get that though lol. Some titles are a real pain to get. You can have 50/50 in HoM (which can take a long time) but not have GWAMM at all. Or you could have GWAMM and only have ~20 points in HoM. And GWAMM is arguably the hardest thing to get in GW (although some updates have made it easier now).
I personally have finished the campaigns, unlocked the GW2 items (30/50 HoM), no GWAMM, and have put in 400+ hours so far. Some time spent fooling around and helping other people out, could probably do that in half the time if you plan accordingly. People who say it can be much faster than that usually already have the gold, since a lot for HoM can just be bought from other players.
Yeah I know they're separate. And you dont have to complete it before gw2 comes out so it's not like time is an issue. I'm not sure what I want to go for first, I'm thinking of most likely going for at least 30/50 hom first for the item rewards and working on titles from there.
It took me about 2 months starting from scratch to get 32/50 HoM. This is mostly playing by myself though. I recommend to do all the Zaishen daily quests and convert the points to Z. Keys and sell them, as well as the weekly Nicholas the Traveler gifts. Doing this will get you closer to 30/50 faster than just by saving them up for titles. Also, you can find really cheap undedicated mini-pets for sale at the guildwars guru trading forums.
Are there any guides out there for getting those titles? I might pick up GW1 to get some of them.
There's tons of guides and I know there's a few on reddit. I haven't been 100% playing by myself since I joined the reddit alliance and they've been a huge help so far.
Id get you some guide links but I'm on my phone so no go.![]()
