Also, you can find really cheap undedicated mini-pets for sale at the guildwars guru trading forums.
Yea, good advice. You can also do Zaishen Elite for zkeys.

Another tip: You can get the lv20 pet with zero effort, just make a new ranger PvP char, go to Zaishen Menagerie and give the pet to NPC, then login with your PvE char and get lv20 pet from menagerie. That's one HoM point right there.

Also, MOX is a hero you can get if you have all campaigns, can put it without armor upgrades in your HoM. That's another point without effort.

And since you get 3 points to start with, you're up to five now.

As for guides, everything is on wiki really:

Hmm, I've noticed just now that you can actually buy the Trilogy for a pretty decent price off the NCSoft store (25 Euro?) so would only need to get Eye separately and it would still be quite cheap. Might dive for it in September... I'm just surprised there's no Eye on their site or e.g. D2D, but I found the box version in one of retailers here - what's up with that?

Edit: Well, more weird I actually saw a link to buy Eye on the GW2 page and it transferred me to their store again and this time it shows it plus lots of other different stuff ^^; Also forgot that Prophecies are not included in the Trilogy, lulz.

how could prophecies not be included with the trilogy? isnt the trilogy prophecies / factions / nightfall? the original guild wars is prophecies. Also you can just go into the ingame shop and get eye of the north and unlock it automatically. The game actually patches and updates while you play.

Ah nvm that then, got confused by all the names and then the description listing it only as "Guild Wars". That's good, I guess I'll join the grind next month lol.

Yeah trilogy is base + first 2 expansions. Then you have to buy eotn separately. My main is a 20 ranger so I already have a level 20 pet.

Also: if anyone is playing, Eanae Hikari is my ranger's name. I'm on a lot when I actually have power, so hopefully by tonight I'll be around but realistically I'll be around by Friday.

    Cool.

You can get EotN bit cheaper here I think: http://game.gamesplanet.com/buy-down...h-2147-37.html

Doesn't matter where you get it, just need the key and apply it on NCsoft account.

My IGN is "Vogel Nestje", not much on lately, but will be helping a friend through campaigns in a few weeks.

Quick question, somebody mentioned something about something you get in GW2 if you have done something in GW1, what do you get and what do you need to do?

Also is 1 worth playing, even if it is just for those items?

I would say, if just for the items, probably not lol. I mean, it's a bit of a time sink and besides some of the unique pets/minis the items will probably only be used for a few levels in GW2 before we find cooler gear/skins.

But, if you're looking for what is still a great game, want to know the story of what happened before GW2 & the same time get some rewards for GW2. Then yea, really worth it, great value for a low price.

There's a trial too btw, so you can see if you like it, when you buy game you can just continue with that char. No extra downloads needed, just apply key.

To be honest, if you have the time I'd really recommend playing GW before GW2. It's not needed, but it's a lot cooler when you know who Adelbern, Rurik, Gwen, etc are.

And as part of "Guild Wars Beyond", Arenanet is still adding new content to the game in the form of free mini-campaigns that kinda tie up the loose ends between GW1 & GW2: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Beyond

I got my EoTN from New Egg for like $5, but it seems they are out of stock now.

ArenaNet never ceases to amaze me. Not only are they fully-voicing Guild Wars 2 in English, but also in German and French and they are considering Spanish as well. That's taking "localization" to a whole new level.

Here's a (loosely) Guild Wars 2-relevant video that might be easily overlooked... HD link.

    Guild Wars 2 Environment Artist

"In this edition of Will Work For Games, Blair Herter hears from ArenaNet Environment Artist Tirzah Bauer on her work creating Guild Wars 2 cities, castles, greenery, and more. Tirzah Bauer is brilliant environment artist working on the gorgeous MMO Guild Wars 2. In the video below, Tirzah explains what goes in to her job at ArenaNet, the types of challenges she faces on a daily basis, and some tips on getting in to this side of the gaming industry yourself."

Decided not worth it to me atm to play through GW1, can read wikis and shit for story, possibly if I get bored enough between now and release I'll do it, but the trial had me bored in under an hour so meh. Am not an easy man to please it seems after being the beaten housewife of SE for so long. >_>

Well, keep in mind (as was mentioned earlier in this thread) that the demo is in Prophecies, which is a much slower progression than Factions or Nightfall. Factions is the fastest to level AFAIK, and you very quickly get access to the ability to travel around to the other campaigns to pick up some heroes, nab skills, etc. (the downside being that you tend not to get skills as quest rewards in it, along with a steeper learning curve if you're new to the game)

Wouldn't feel too bad about not liking the game from the trial alone, heh. It is a six year old game. And the trial will only let you start in Prophecies which was their first campaign, the story there takes a while to get going.

I can imagine it's kinda hard to stay motivated during that beginner area if you don't really know what the game will have to offer afterwards. Basically what the campaigns are like is that, besides the optional questing, you will do missions (I suppose kinda like XI, but you can take NPCs to help you if you don't have a full party) and doing them will advance the story and always unlock a new area. You will reach max level (20) usually in a few hours/days, before even finishing one campaign. From Lion's Arch (a hub city, also in GW2), you can even travel to other campaigns and do a few missions there, then come back etc.

If you decide to give it another go, maybe try playing with a friend, more fun that way to get through the starter levels.

How are they going to handle PvE v. PvP in terms of skills/talent points????/armor/stats?

well, if they do PVP and PVE skills similar to the way they did it in GW1, they'd balanced the skill seperately for PVP and PVE, switching between the two depending on if your in a PVP or PVE based area. basically, 2 forms of the same skill, allowing them to balance one verson without breaking/making the skill useless in the other format.

I may have worded that poorly, but you get the idea.
