New Blog Post
Oooh, this is nice about rangers:It’s been a little while since we’ve provided you with an update about the current state of Guild Wars 2, so today I thought I’d share some of the things we’ve been working on these past few months. We are heads down, hard at work on the continued development of the game, and I’m happy to report that things are progressing very nicely on all fronts. From art and sound to filling out and polishing all of the content in the game, we’re making great strides toward completing Guild Wars 2.
Read on for some details about what we’ve been up to!
In Guild Wars 2, a single ranger can collect and use every type of pet in the game without having to worry about stables or leveling the pets from scratch.
Dear god just when you think this game couldn't get any more amazing...
Spell and ability combos are delish, it seems like a no-brainer for all MMO's to incorporate this concept. These guys are really going after all the little things that MMO'ers have wished for and shit I've always thought would be cool while playing.
I can't wait for beta. I think I'll need to try every class out atleast once.
Spell and ability combos are what will make this game awesome and add a deep level of strategy to fights not seen in any other mmo. They are really adding everything to the game and making ppl work together on fights.. Not just everyone dps separately on a single target
Sounds pretty awesome. I mean hearing the concept of the combos was pretty cool before. I mean shooting arrows through a fire wall and having the arrows and having them catch on fire sounded nice but it was a pretty obvious combo. But stuff like stomping on sheet of ice and giving everyone around you ice armor or stomping on a smoke screen and giving everyone stealth, pretty epic. It's going to be really interesting figuring out the combos in game.
They also seem to be putting a ton of focus on the classes and trying to make them really unique and fun to play. Unlike most games where they don't really try to deviate from the standard fantasy classes with set roles like "You're a warrior, you wear heavy armor and hit things with your sword." And that's all you can really do. It's going to be really tough choosing a main class, but I think I'm kind of leaning towards Necromancer because I really like the style and it's a type of class I don't usually play. Though I think this will be one of the few games where I'll actually have many alts.
These are just someone intelligent remembering FFXI's skillchains and having happy thoughts about what was once possible in that game. I know Lotro tried to steal it for themselves, but afaik it was never well received.
Its good to see more mmo developers thinking outside the WoW-box. I truly hope that they continue to do this and give us an end game taht is not 100% about daily quests, repeating dungeons and raids. We desperately need other ways to improve our characters besides this model. (And no I do not mean Pet Battles!)
Can't wait to see more from GW2. The gameplay/questing/leveling mechanics look awesome. Enough of the same old with enough of the new to keep it interesting. The pvp looks interesting, (I hope we can see more maps soon.) while being simple and deep at the same time. The world event system looks really nice, I just hope it will scale properly. The best and worst thing about Warhammer was the world events. They were fun the first time, but if you didn't have the people to actually complete the final stages, it truly was the worst part of the game.
I can only hope that we will hear some beta news before christmas. Id love to see this game launch before easter!

Because the story of Guild Wars is rarely told in a way that properly conveys its great depth, the crew at GuildWars2Live.com spent the past 3 months working on the first episode of a series of videos intended to enable future Guild Wars 2 players who are new to the world of Tyria to have a stronger appreciation for where Guild Wars 2's story really begins.
Work on episode 2 has not yet begun, and the GuildWars2Live team is interested in more help. Episode 2 will be longer than this first episode, and talent such as students who are strong with After Effects, players with sufficient hardware for recording in-game footage, or even animators to re-create moments never before seen in Guild Wars. If you would like to help, tweet @peter_chan or @guildwars2live.
Hope you enjoy the first episode on the lore of Guild Wars! If you did, tell your friends!
[ed: description of the video tweaked quite a bit.]
some gstar stuff, asian design clothes and character face, improved animations for speaking npcs.

Korean Presser all 4 vids
Damn, how many languages is this game going to have VA for?
Extremely impressed by this simple fact. A lot of games would just let those little things go.
I was extremely impressed with the speed at which the elementalist gained her abilities. I have to wonder if that was more for the demo or if that was the speed you are going to gain your abilities. I mean... i was less than a few minutes and she had 4 new abilities.
Mail pigeon lol, so cool at 13:35

That armor was sweet. Looks like new character customization options since previous build too!
Hopefully the armor isn't something just for Korea. I love me some mini skirts but you know how uptight the west is about that stuff.
