If you think that's all there will be to defending a keep in this game, you might want to check out the WvW blog they posted on their site.

I haven't looked into any of that stuff yet. I'm hoping it's close to DAoC keep battles. Those were pretty enjoyable, but they were also much shorter in length then WARs. Which is part of the reason why they were more fun. Sitting in one place all day long grows pretty stale. Especially if it becomes a daily occurrence.
Yeah we'll probably get a lot more information tomorrow about it when the NDA drops. But what we know so far is that you will be able to build siege weapons to defend the keep. And from the way they made it sound, the keep door isn't the only thing you can break down, but the walls as well. So controlling nearby resource camps and making supply runs to keep resources to be able to repair keep walls and build weapons will be as equally important. But as for needing to defend a keep 24/7 that's going to be inevitable. The way the system works is that the server with the most points at the end of the 2 weeks will be the victor. And you get points by holding onto objectives.
The other thing though, is that guilds can claim keeps and can then increase the defense of the keep by strengthening the walls, the guards, etc. To give your server time to make it to these keeps in time to defend. But obviously if others are constantly attacking a keep, yeah you'll be there defending for a while if you want to hang on to it. Or at the very least, making supply runs.
Huge map is huge, also NDA isnt dropping just the embargo for the press. Everyone else testing cant really say anything, I am sure there are things that the press will not be able to talk about yet, but we will be getting a but load of info anyways

Just guessing that's the WvW map?
Looks like it. Thought it would be more symmetrical than that, but still looks epic.
IMO why they put this in is because they want you to visit the cities/playerhubs every once in a while and not be out on the field 24/7. This used to be via skill trainers, but since you now learn weaponskills automatically there wasn't really a reason to go back to town (Not sure if utility still needs to be bought from trainer or is just via quests or whatever. Elites will be via quests, I'm sure, after Lv30).
BUT there might just be repairkits you can have in inventory so my reasoning may not be legit, we'll see soon with the blog post. Or even today; I'm sure some smart people in the press will talk about it since it's new info.
Next thing they will announce will be fatigue, then it's XIV beta all over again hahaha... not.
The Korean version of GW2 will have a fatigue system in place from the government. Nothing NCSoft can do about that![]()
Ever so slightly (very very slightly) disappointed all the home maps are identical, but I get the need to make it a fair fight. I wonder whether the differences in the 'eternal' map will lead to some advantages or disadvantages, I guess not being as anyone can take any point.
You guys noticed the level sync in this shot?

Left of the XP bar: "(4) 6". Lv 6, probably in starter area out of Divinity's Reach, gets level synced to Lv 4.

Not to beat a dead horse but this game needs to come out already. Also, good video by the BFF report. Showed a lot of cool things. One thing I noticed, and this may be adjustable or it may have changed, but the red outline was not present in the video when characters/NPCs/mobs were targeted. The reason I mention it is because out of everything, and I know this is nitpicking, but I don't like the red outline when targeting something. Just looked...weird or something.
