It's going to get very aggrivating very quickly.
What does it being level 3 have anything to do with it? and yes its an event Boss, its still an NM, and you do know u get scaled down right? Its not a quest in the sense that you are thinking. Everyone in the area can fight it. Its meant to be hard, as is expected with event Bosses. Also the guys playing were noobs.

Also another thing when you said "that early on", I hope you realize that its not like you gonna level to 80 and the game changes. You will fight event bosses from level 1.

Also do not expect to come back at level 80 to one shot any NM, it can't happen.

Its just a different game. I rather fight a 10 minute event boss than kill 10 rabbits at level 3

I know it might be difficult to understand but when there is no claiming of mobs and a fixed number of people that can fight it, it needs to be difficult enough that any number of players will not unbalance it.

Level 3 means its the beginning of the game, generally things are a bit simpler, in i dunno, every other game on the planet? And i know it might be difficult to understand, but having to fight mobs like that often enough will get very, very tedious. How many event mobs are we going to face on our trek to cap? Not an appealing prospect. Relax and stop white knighting. People are allowed to have negative viewpoints. I'm still buying it, im still looking forward to it, but any time someone has a small complaint you jump all over it. relax.

It's a pretty stupid complaint to have. They fought a level 3 event boss, at level 2, got hit with virtually every breath and still took it down. Sorry it took too long for your liking(4 minutes), feel free to skip the events with bosses in your own adventure.

    [edit] Dungeon story(easy) mode playthrough.

This is where the problem is.

If I understand, you are thinking that for some reason these boss encounters will get in the way of your leveling speed? You are not racing to endgame, there is none. Endgame starts at level 1.

And this is def not every other game on the planet, thank god.

your viewpoints are in no way negative. Just based off of an archaic principle.

But yea.. camping FaF for 3hrs was not tedious? Or repetition grinding of Salvage was not also tedious?

Bosses are meant to be epic fight with large numbers of people.

Not white knighting just giving you the facts dude, I am just trying to help you understand why something is done a certain way

I like this quote a lot and puts this game in perspective. It requires a major paradigm shift from common MMO practices and functionally that it'll take time to accept these changes.

The fact that you can hook up with 15 other people at lv 2 to do an event where the boss needs 10 mins to kill? PLZ sign me up.
(sentence may contain minor exaggeration for dramatic effect)

I dont wanna grind for 2 weeks to reach cap, wait another 2 weeks for people to catch up to do a raid where it takes 10 mins to kill the boss.

Problem is that somebody is going to invite his level 7 friends and nothing will feel epic.

Most mmo have low level contents, it's just incredibly rare that it's perfectly tuned to create epic encounters every time. It happens occasionally, but it's usually not the norm. Are they going to pull it off? I hope so, but I'm not hopeful that low level contents will be as great as some people make it sound.

the level 7 person will be scaled down to an effective level 3 or what ever level that particular area is. so even if i am level 80 any event will still be epic. You will still have all ur.skills and gear, but it will scale in power to match the area

    this happens automatically

Which were nice buffs but were extremely limited and did not necessarily effect ALL of the defenders regardless of their guild. I may be wrong about that given my limited playtime (alpha thru about 2months of play - I left when Wrath launched as the game got really lackluster the more you leveled.)
Keeps could upgrade the guard levels inside them, the difficulty of the keep lord, number of NPCs patrolling the keep, door HP, door regen, siege weapons buyable inside the keep, standards buyable inside the keep, and a healer NPC. All these upgrades came like 6 months after release though.

I had two renown rank 70 characters (which is more renown then rank 80, the final cap). I played that game a lot longer then I should have lol.

Figures. The moment people actually have to play through content and not get power leveled / power plowed through it with higher level characters, the whining begins.

The level syncing idea in GW2 is fantastic. I've always found it completely boring when someone could rush you through content.

I'm noticing a lot with the PvE stuff, instead of throwing massive amounts of mobs at you the game instead makes each enemy count. Throughout that dungeon run they killed like half (probably less) than a standard dungeon in WoW. They're changing every single fundamental thing about MMOs here and I fucking love it.

Just watched the IGN mesmer video involving the event with a shaman on an ice lake, so epic. The guy didn't exactly explore mesmer much, mostly auto-attacked, but I guess it's because he was talking a lot.

    Even so, mesmer, day 1.

This is similar to what WAR did with it's "public quests". Groups of lower level mobs fighting event bosses. It actually broke up the questing grind pretty gracefully. It wasn't much of a turn off at all and it provided some random loot/grouping at lower levels that was not forced. A lot of people are borrowing the good things from WAR and it's def. a good thing.

It's buggy? I've seen a lot of videos talking about the stability and polish the game has already. Is that not the case? I know it's in alpha/beta etc.

Haven't heard a lot about bugs too, only that they have serious problems with performance.

I have to admit, I never played the first game and I never really followed GW2 at all until the pat week or so. All the info that came out yesterday has me desiring this game badly.
I read that if you do things in GW1, you can get stuff in GW2? Is it just pets, titles, vanity items or are there any items of significant value to be obtained?

    Nope, only what you mentioned.
