ZX Advent was an awesome game, hell, the whole Z series was freaking bad ass.

Hoping to see a link between the main MM series and the X series is a fools dream. People have been clamoring for this at least 15+ years. That and Yellow Devil is easy, just did a speed run the other day, shits cake.

At this point, I would take it on any console, I just want a conclusion to the story.

If it's on a next gen system, I hope they won't move away from the previous formula too much. I want giant bosses, town construction/destruction, lot of minigame/sidequest, ruin exploration to upgrade weapon, and another epic story (half epic, half ridiculous). MML gathered nearly everything I want to see in a game.

Supposedly they're trying to make the link using 10 and beyond without making an actual concrete link. No idea how in the hell that's supposed to work, but I'm interested nonetheless.

The link between Megaman series have always been subtle anyway (well, they are obvious consididering there is barely any story, but they are rarely said directly)

More or less on topic, but I downloaded megaman legend 2 earlier, and damn, it looks better than I remembered (with emulator filter and all).

I've seen a bunch of cel-shade filter used on psx emulator before (for xenogears). Anyone know which plugin or emulator allow you to do this? I would like to see the result for megaman, which is already pretty close to cel shade.

Subtle? The links between X, Z and ZX are all defined and well explained, even Legends/DASH has been explained. The only connection in the entire timeline that hasn't been explained is the one between the original and X timelines.

Where in hell the connections with legend are explained in game?

DASH has been mentioned by the producers as taking place thousands of years after the X series. If you look at some of the things between X, X:CM, Z and ZX you can at least get a cursory idea of what happened and where the links are.

Perhaps DASH wasn't the best example of the timelines having been explained, but it's still more defined than what happened between the original and X.

And we know that Cain found Megaman in light's lab, we know that willy created Zero, we know it's far into the future. There is still a bunch we know between both game.

No, we don't know exactly why megaman was put to "sleep", but there is unknown detail like this between every other time jump, no?

Outside the game, but in game, there is barely anything. Just small hints that point in that direction, even if we have no clue what happened between both series.

As for being defined, even with what the producer said, there is actually less informations than the jump from megaman to megaman x.

    [edit]

And i dont remember the jump from Z to ZX pretty well. What happened to zero after the last Z?

Also, I'm not sure how ZX fit with legend.
The link between X and Z is explained in vivid detail through the games, including going back to the entire timeline of what happened between them. ZX takes place after Z but before DASH/Legends, although it's never really been established if ZX is supposed to be an AU timeline or part of the same one.

The gap between the original and X is the most noteworthy one because it involves far more story than the gap between the others. We know how X ended up where he was, the real questions in terms of the plot are what happened to the original and the rest of the cast of characters, etc.

Nearly every gap that I can remember (except X -> Z) have character mysteriously going to sleep, and waking up on a different form XXXX years later. It's been a while since i played many of them, so I might have forgot details, but I dont remember ever getting detailed informations aobut the jump.

I don't know about the EXE series because frankly it was bad enough that I never touched it past a couple games, but the original and X are completely separate entities, Both Zero and X are arguably completely destroyed at the end of the Z series and remade by Ciel into Biometals for ZX, and DASH is basically in the aftermath of a worldwide terraforming in the wake of constant destruction on the earth from things like the space station crashes in X and Z.

I do understand what you're saying though, there's always a moderate amount of gray area between each section of the timeline, it's just that outside of the connection between the original and X that gray area really isn't quite as important to the whole story.

Is it really important? I always assumed megaman was wounded or decided to go to sleep to avoid more fighting..etc

Either way, it will be interesting to see how they link it, it's just that I never thought of it as something big (in the sense that it wasnt needed to understand anything, we just needed to know that something happened)

When I saw that short anime about Megaman X it showed X being put into the capsule to sleep by Dr. Light and he didn't seem to know who he was like, he was someone completely new (or mind erased).

That Roboinfluenza thing in 10 I guess is a predecessor to Maverick Virus and is just suppose to be more theory than actual explanation.

The gap between the X > Z series is well explained. It was at this point the elf wars took place introducing several key figures for future games.

The gap between the original series and X is not as detailed, according to the timeline X is already built or is in the process of being built during 9. Once he's built Light realizes he has to put him through a series of tests in order to ensure his free will not be a danger to humanity. Light knew these tests would take at the minimum 30 years, well past his remaining life-time. Cue into the future where Dr. Cain finds the capsule with the tests long completed.

Yar, but that still doesn't explain the question of what happened to the original cast, which is I think primarily what people want to know.
