    To be honest, unless you have a Keymander of something, you're going to be extremely frustrated with mouse and keyboard with this game. They pretty much gimped it to the point that you're better off using a DS3 with aim-assist. It's plagued with input lag, floaty controls, and it runs off joystick emulation.

    Anyway, here's some 1.8 content from Singularity. There goes my hacking bonus which was the entire reason why I went Minmatar logi.

    Minmatar Assault: +5% to damage bonus of damage modifier modules per level.
    I've got both Caldari and Minmatar medium frame to 3, and Caldari assault to 1 to use my tribute suit. Currently use Caldari advanced because EHP, but 25% bonus to proto damage mods, and I stack three for my charge sniper, that's a big draw to spec Minmatar.

    Also, lots of people seem to be at odds with the lack of a hacking bonus, so we may see them make a change, and have another suit or role get the bonus.

    EDIT: Also, I guess it's ultimately Proto Caldari Commando for my charge sniper. Can't really ignore that 10% non- stacking-penalized damage bonus.

    For every quarter million clones (up to 1 mil) killed between Friday and Monday morning, all players who log in and play at least ten matches will get a quarter million skill points.
    In addition, if you install an Active Booster (1, 3, 7, doesn't matter) on Friday, it will boost the reward SP. They've also put a 3 day Active Omega Booster on sale for $2.50 in AUR. So if you grab that and 1 million is reached, you're looking at 2 million SP all at once, right before the new patch.

    lots of reasons why not. this is, quite possibly, the LEAST fun game ive ever played. it's definitely the least fun FPS i've ever played. part of that is probably the playstation; i fucking loathe the dualshock. with a passion. intellectually, i understand that its a perfectly fine controller. my hands inform me that the triggers are fucking stupid and the sticks' dome tops are annoying and hard to aim with. but my hatred for this controller probably only stems from not using it much. i hope. but i'm not going to learn to love it playing this fucking game. Purely as a FPS, this game has nothing to offer. It has nothing new, and the stuff that isn't new has been done better in other games. The EVE tie-in seems to be the only thing it has going for it, and even that is done pretty poorly. Visually, everything about this game is generic and boring. It's not even a very pretty generic boring, just mediocre generic boring. So the faction names are the only cue you have that this is taking place in New Eden and not, say, Star Wars. Or Star Trek. The vehicles come in three types: Turd, Tank, and Warthog. Gallente and Caldari are just color schemes. Amarr and Minmatar apparently don't exist? Game's been out of beta how long and half the vehicles arent even in yet? What ever happened to the RTS commander guy? moving the corp war barge to take contracts? Planetary Interaction tie-in? ANY link other than orbital bombardment (which is also executed poorly, as far as I can tell)? This game still feels like a beta, and that angers me, because it has so much potential.

    maybe in 5 years it'll be worth playing. but not now. right now it's in the same boat as Captain's Quarters: Useless.

    The way they handled aim-assist, mouse/keyboard, and overall disinterest in proven broken game mechanics killed my interest in Dust 514. There's countless video proof of downright game breaking mechanics from aim-assist acting like a goddamn lock on to lag bombing maps and they turn a blind eye, ignore it, or claim it's working as intended. All the while, they miss the most common core balancing issues/exploits that plagued older FPS like trigger feathering. On top of that, they can't deliver on all those promised ambitions since they're pretty much still in beta anyway. CCP needs to get their shit together because they barely have 4,000 players online without subscription fees to fall back on. It took 10 years to get EVE (somewhat) working, but the console market is far less forgiving with significantly shorter attention spans.

    Battlefield 4 is broken as fuck, but at least it's actually fun. Support > Logistics any day of the week.

    Well, not only did 1m get reached, but they added another stretch goal to 2m, and it's been broken. That's 2-3m in prep for 1.8

    I'm five matches in and I'm not overly angry at the game. But you could always say fuckit to normal play and try entering into this.

    If it does well, you might see CCP get in gear and start outputting tools for custom match modes and broadcast (if Twitch/NEO is any indication). That would be a way to further pull DUST out of the crowd, I dont know many FPSes that do stuff like that out of user mods. Personally, I'd love to see them open the map slot system so you could pick and choose the variable bits of the terrain for modes.

    Very dirty first impressions.

    TTK does feel slightly up, but it can still feel like things happen too fast.
    I'm not suited to use it, but the max shield down big recharge mods on the Caldari Heavy is fucking scary, especially if you stick a delay mod in the low.

    Cloak seems okay, I managed to kill a few that had it up. Haven't messed with it myself yet though.
    The re-balance on scout suits is nice though, my Dragonfly shoehorns just got a lot roomier.

    Also, uh, the new heavy suits, well, they aren't pretty looking. Very meh textures. Not anywhere as good as the old suits. Haven't checked the new scouts though.


    With the mod nerf, my 30k advanced charge sniper doesn't cut it anymore. It takes a full price 120k commando proto, full 5 skills, with three complex mods to get the oneshot job done. My only advantage is my 900+ stock of rifles from before the price went up. At least it's more HP, and now anyone coming after me gets to eat Exile instead of Toxin.

    It has made my scrambler heavy fits cheaper though, 2% more for the price of complex isn't worth it outside of trying to alpha, so they just became milita mod BPOs.

    This is funny, one match this morning, the enemy was flying around a dropship, and it must have been shield tanked with paper armor.
    Our guys took out it's shields, and it was running away with half armor. I gave it a pair of shots with my sniper to where it was on it's safe side of the map, and actually got the destruction of the thing, LOL.
    (I tend to take potshots at vehicles to harass them and cause pauses, or try to negate some natural shield regen to assist.)

    So, after I cooled off over my aiming being worse than ever with a mouse, I gave the new update a try. Specced into Minmatar heavy on an alt, that thing is a goddamned beast! It's pretty much an assault that can use heavy weapons and squishy as hell but it works. The impending 20% HP nerf is really going to break it though.

    Cloaking seems a bit underpowered unless you're crafty with it- which most of the community apparently isn't but didn't have any problems when keeping my head on a swivel. Might test it out on another alt for shits and giggles, but I'm too lazy at the moment.

    Haven't been on my main yet, but might go Minmatar logi and/or assault depending in how much passive SP I accumulated. Amarr logi looks useless thanks to the stupid racial gear bonus route they went, but whatever. They'll probably shift everything around again in a few months anyway.

    TTK feels tons better, not perfect but a massive improvement. I think if they added resistance modules, sway to certain weapons and make the rail rifle operate similar to Hyperion guns in Borderlands 2, we might have some balance. Flaylock and Ion pistol could stand a slight buff at some point and I have no idea WTF happened to the scrambler pistol

    Feel sorry for scouts now since the nerf witch hunt is after them now. Caldari is pretty nasty, Minmatar and Gallente seem the most balanced, but haven't seen any Amarr yet, but they probably need a buff since everything Amarr seems to be gimped.

    I'll probably toss a few hours here and there at this point since I'm between games. Probably going to stay away from the forums this time around, that place is as toxic as I remember, if not more.

    While it's nice to finally see the new suit types and new weapons getting added to the game, the thing that bugs me most of all about Dust is how after a year+ of being playable we still only have the same two basic game modes types. While yes, there's slight variations to em, essentially all we can play is TDM or Control Points, which to me get really boring REALLY fast. For a game that has it's battles literally being labeled Attack and Defend...you'd think they'd actually want to HAVE a gamemode where you could attack or defend things.

    For what was supposed to be an MMOFPS, the game just seems so small and empty. The large barren maps, small match numbers and complete lack of variety in the actual gameplay just serve to make every other issue appear that much more glaring to me. If the gameplay were more engaging and on a larger scale, I probably wouldn't care as much about all the bugs, glitches, imbalances and incredibly stupid decisions that plague this game.

    tl:dr, I miss Skirmish 1.0

    Yeah, Skirmish 1.0 was the shit. I remember reading somewhere that it was going to get incorporated into PC, but you can trust a dev as much as a politician these days. Dust needs skirmish 1.0 back along with at least another game mode and PVE. I'm literally playing against the same corps day in and day out at this point.
