Went to the Symphony today and Philip Glass himself was there

friend came in from out of town and we went to the TSO for Beethoven's 6th (snore) and 2 other pieces which were much more moving imo

Philip Glass's violin concerto #2, something of an ode to Vivaldi's Four Seasons (also snore) but ended up being really really great

the piece ended and in the breath before the applause started I heart a woman exclaim "Oh my God.."

that summed it up pretty well I thought

my first exposure to Glass was his work with David Bowie's Heroes and Aphex Twin's remix of same:

I was originally a fan of Aphex Twin but Glass's strings and arrangement really transform the song so well -- I really have difficulty deciding which I like better and often oscillate between the two

tonight's performance was the premier in Canada, thus why Glass was there I'm assuming, I can't seem to find a video on youtube

the violin soloist was Robert McDuffie who was an amazing performer, his movements were very interesting to watch, even his silences were somewhat expressive

Niiiice Howie! I've always liked Glass for his crazy. In music in year 11 we had to learn the opening rhythms to Akhenaten and it was totally crazy but even today I can still tap them out by heart
