I didn't see anyone come up with the answer to this before, so I thought I'd try to contribute this to the thread:

About the #6 seed in the AFC:

There are 4 7-6 teams, JAX, MIA, BAL, NYJ. Tiebreaking procedure is as follows:
TO BREAK A TIE FOR THE WILD-CARD TEAM OR AMONG DIVISION WINNERS
    Three or More Clubs
(Note: If two clubs remain tied after third or other clubs are eliminated, tie breaker reverts to step 1 of applicable two-club format.)
    1. Apply division tie breaker to eliminate all but the highest ranked club in each division prior to proceeding to step 2. The original seeding within a division upon application of the division tie breaker remains the same for all subsequent applications of the procedure that are necessary to identify the two Wild-Card participants.
    2. Head-to-head sweep. (Applicable only if one club has defeated each of the others or if one club has lost to each of the others.)
    3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference.
    4. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games, minimum of four.
    5. Strength of victory.
    6. Strength of schedule.
    7. Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed.
    8. Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed.
    9. Best net points in conference games.
    10. Best net points in all games.
    11. Best net touchdowns in all games.
    12. Coin toss
So first, NYJ and MIA in division tiebreaker. First step of division tiebreaker is head-to-head, which MIA swept. So that brings us down to MIA, JAX, BAL.

Since neither MIA nor JAX played BAL, a head-to-head sweep (as described in step 2 above) does not apply. On to #3, Conference record. JAX is 6-3 in conference, MIA is 5-4, BAL is 6-4. Therefore, JAX takes the #6 seed, BAL is #7, and MIA is #8.

Can't post URL for the tiebreaker rules but tl;dr, MIA head-to-head win over JAX doesn't cut it because it's currently a 4-team tie for the #6 seed. Rules can be found on CBS or ESPN's site.

How amazing would it be to come to a coin toss.

Conference record is irrelevant because they'll ultimately have the same record (Balt and Miami) if they win out. Then it goes to common opponents. Balt controls their own destiny because they play Pitt, and if they beat Pitt, they'll have a better common opponent record regardless of if Miami also beats Pitt.

However, Jim Caldwell said he's keeping the starters playing against Jax. I <3 you Jim.

The Jags go to New England the week after that, so, even if the Colts some how lose, they still have a huge blip. I expect NE to play pretty damn hard with the Jets and Dolphins nipping at the heels only 1 game back. If NE loses one more game and Miami wins out, Miami owns the tiebreaker and will win the division.

    1. Head to head (1-1)
    2. Division Record (Both 4-2 if NE beats Buffalo, if they lose to Buffalo, Miami wins tiebreaker here)
    3. Common Games (Both 8-4 if Miami wins out and NE loses one)
    4. Conference Record (Miami will be 8-4 if they win out, NE will be 7-5 if they lose any one of the next 3).

Well fake Jerry Jones is quite pissed that his team is sucking ass once again and takes it out on fake Wade Phillips (this is the same show that brought you fake Pacman last season):

New England has a pretty doable schedule of what's left but for some reason I have a bad feeling about that Houston game. I don't see them losing to Buffalo either but shit happens on occasion.

Buffalo damn near beat them earlier this season. Laugh at Buffalo all you want, but they have a far above average pass defense that gave Brady fits earlier in the season. The Houston game is the game that worries me most for Miami. We'll see, but getting even this close this late in the season is a huge accomplishment for a team that lost it's starting QB and starting running back.

Really? The Tenn Vince Youngs are 6-1 when he starts...I think that's the hardest game left for the Fins.

Wonder what's the furthest down that list a tie break has had to go. Anyone know year and teams that had the most elusive tiebreak?

Thanks for clearing that up, makes sense now, even though it's retarded. And the farthest its gotten down the list was probably between two division foes that were tied, since they should have nearly an identical schedule.

    1. Marion Barber, Cowboys running back: It's honestly time to take the guy's starting job away. He's supposed to be this fierce runner, but he can't bang the ball in from the 1-yard line. In the previous week, it was his fumble that breathed new life into the Giants' sideline. He had 14 carries for 47 yards against a Chargers defense that has struggled against the run at times. I'm told by folks who watch film that Barber's leaving a lot of yards on the field. It's time to get Tashard Choice some more reps. Much more explosive than Barber at this point.
WHY CAN EVERYONE SEE IT BUT WADE AND JERRY JONES. FUCK.

    None of this matters because:

The Steelers are going to beat the Ravens
The Texans are going to beat Miami
The Jags are going to lose the rest of their games
And the Jets are going to win out and take the last spot without any tiebreakers.

I can't wait until that asshole finally jumps the shark and just names himself head coach. The failure would be rather amazing.

Listening to the radio show, and they said that if we get blown out by the Saints (akin to Eagles last year), there's a definite possibility that he could get fired, though the only quick fix would be... dundundun Garrett. Bleh. Now, if its the Jerry that called MB3 a pussy last year, I'm all for it... for the first week lulz.
