Extremely weird laptop issue.

So I have this weird issue with my laptop and it has nothing to do with the battery as it holds a charge fully.

Basically I was the DJ at a wedding ceremony and my laptop kept hard locking (No response until restarting) so I restarted and it would work for about 20 mins then lock up again (Note the laptop is plugged in to the wall outlet at this time so it is not a battery issue) so I decide to switch to my friends laptop for the rest of the night. Anyway I bring it home and it works fine so I think nothing of it but yesterday when I took it to a friends house (Plugged in as well so still not a battery issue) and it does the same thing. I have no clue what is going on but it works fine when I'm at my house or my girlfriends house.

The wedding hall and friends house are all very cool so I don't think its a heating issue as my room (Which is where my laptop usually is unless I'm taking IT courses) has 3 computers running in it and it gets really hot at times and the laptop doesn't even flinch my girlfriends house is also hotter than the wedding hall and my friends house.

I have no clue what is going on or where to start diagnosing this problem.

Can anyone help me out?

Maybe check for spyware/virus... I'm just totally guessing here though, but what if a spyware program is locking the laptop when it can't connect online. It'd work fine at home when you'd have internet access but not your friend's house. Sounds plausible, but just a shot in the dark really, gl!
